Although ultegra electronic has many upgrades,
I do not think there is a big difference in mechanical type.

My shortcage arrived and installed. Works great with 11-32 cassette. Front ring 48T.

There isn't a whole lot of reason to buy Dura-ace once this becomes readily available.

I ordered a whole set from bike-components.de. Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week.

anyone know if the new GS rear mech will work with 6800 ultegra or even the DA 9000 mechanical shifters?

the new ultegra and dura ace are supposed to be fully compatible with the previous generation
Colnago C-59 (Dura Ace)
Firefly(Ultegra)
Trek 5200(ultegra)

So what's next to get upgraded? Claris, and then 105 or tiagra?

Claris got upgraded as well (R2000), so then it'll be 105.

just got 9100 shifts and r8000 rails on my bike and I'm super impressed with the shifting performance. Definitely an incremental step up from 9000/6800.

Other people on this forum have commented that their 9100 setup is more noise than the equivalent 9000/6800 setup. What's your experience with drivetrain noise on your new setup?

looking at the various 2018 bikes being announced, it is very disappointing that (other than BMC) none of the 8000 & 9100 bikes have direct mount hangers - at least in the product photos. It is not as if a hanger is a huge overhead.

Figures. Someone has mentioned that Shimano has priced the direct mount version of the OEM rear derailleur to be cheaper than the regular version in order to speed up adoption. But I guess no one at the bike manufacturer has noticed it?

Guess it would be a stretch using 50 at front and gs would be required? Don't know the cage length do you of the ss version?
