I also notice there are two variants of the red22 crankset, one with spider and crankset integrated as one and another with interchangeable spiders. Anyone know which version is lighter?

Just solving one issue with Sram Red Crankset. Will BB30 version fit to classic 41mm BB86 pressfit frame(Addict)?
I think probably not, but I´ve just read something about version with extended spindle...

This could bring me headache soon...

If I have to buy GXP Red crankset, will it be much heavier than BB30?

FWIW My hidden bolt Red 22 (black out gfx) GXP 170 arm and spindle weighed 408g

608g on my scale for 52/36, 170 GXP complete

and competitive has started weighing stuff https://www.competitivecyclist.com/sram ... p-crankset

Your issue isn't really about spindle length its about bottom bracket thinkness. Most press fit bb86 are for 24mm spindles because the OD of the bearing is 41mm so to get it down to 30mm ID is just really tight for a bearing. They do make them its just not going to be great because of the physical space for a 30mm spindle

So there´s no other way except to buy GXP. What about weight difference against BB30? Worth to order Red or if ordering GXP, Force will do the job for about same weight?
Hard to find Sram cranksets weights...

Gxp is what most people can use these days.

I haven't measured the difference to Force but I'd imagine it's the same for bb30 as gxp. Force bb30 spindles are actually longer than on Red so they stay "useful" a bit more on the wider bb shells.

Red bb30 fits only on 68mm (73mm should be ok if removing the preload adjuster). Unfortunately the industry has almost completely gone away from 68mm shells and thus made a great many bb30 cranks obsolete. You can pick them up pretty cheap, gxp is still high price despite the weigt. Brands that still use bb30 are specialized/s-works/some felt/some fuji/some china frames.

Using bb30 is possible but requires some planning on the frame buying stage.

The thing is I´ve already bought a frame(Addict) with BB86 and now buying lightest chainset possible(planning to go for Red BB30 compact). Rest of gropuset is Sram Force.
If you say Force spindle is longer, it means I can use it in 86mm wide shell?

If not, what could be real weight difference between Force and Red GXP cmpacts?

Go with gxp. (or shimano cranks - very similar)

30mm spindles are too big (diameter wise) for bb86 frames (41mm inner diameter). It's not impossible but you'd need to run really small ball bearings - unwise.

If you had a bb386 frame then you'd have the choice of running a 30mm spindle which would probably be the best. Bb386 is bb86 but with a larger diameter shell, 46mm inner diameter.

I forgot if force bb30 is long enough to fit bb386. Force doesn't have much weight advantage over shimano duraace/ultegra, maybe no advantage.

If I were you I'd check current prices for sram red/ dura-ace / ultegra cranks. (They become heavier in that order.) If one sticks out as unusually cheap then go with that. I don't mind shimano cranks, they shift really well, cheap to fit single sided power meters. I'd put one on a sram red groupset without giving it a second thought if I got a good deal.

Pay attention that you could require different bottom brackets for gxp/shimano. Buy bb after you know what crank you intend to run.

BB386 RED cranks possible to fit BB86, but BB386 version uses removable spider
(it will weight more than non-removable spider GXP or BB30 version of RED cranks)
and bearing will be small

Alcatraz thanks. No doubt it will be Sram crankset. I know there will be very little difference Force - Ultegra but I don´t like to mix different brand groupsets if you understand me :)
Force or Red cranks will be perfect matching with Force groupset, now just fin out weights if Red is worth it´s price.

ooo: If bearings would be reliable it should work. New cranks are a bit expensive, I´ve looked through ebay, how I can recognize if it´s BB30 or BB386?

The BB30/PF30 variant without a removable spider is the lightest.

Go with GXP but here's how you tell the differences.

Non-removable spider only.
GXP has the bolt/locking mechanism on the NDS arm
BB30/PF30 has the bolt on the DS arm
42.

Anyone know the weights of the other SRAM carbon chainsets?

I'm looking for some new cranks (GXP only), top of the list was those 2012 or later ones shown in this thread, but I've got loads of standard chainrings to use up, so would need to work out a way of fitting them to the hidden bolt.

I've just had a browse of ebay and seen S900 and S950; presumably these are OEM? Anyone know the weights, or what they're comparable to i.e. Force/Red etc.

The S900 looks to have a removable spider.

Red GXP with integrated spider weighs 411g. Red and Force GXP with removable spider both weigh 464g
