help needed on Dura Ace BB for Pina F8

Hi All

need some advise. I gotten a Dura Ace bottom bracket SM BB9000 36x24 for my Pinarello F8 but it does not fit the thread. Did i buy the wrong one ? What should be the correct model.

mine is confirm italian thread as the BSA is not the same. I tried a BSA bb onto the F8, it can't even fit.

As above you need to make sure it is the Italian thread version 100%

Maybe you need to have the bottom bracket chased and faced? Though a frame in that price range should be ready to build out of the box.

left is a sram 08a GXP BB cups Ceramic (00.6415.031.010) italian thread, it fits perfectly. Right is the DA SM BB9000 36x24.

The sram can be screw in fully with the hand. The DA cannot be hand tighten beyond 2 thread. Dare not force it and afraid to mess up the thread.


any clue ?

Those Shimano BBs have a tough loctite on them.
Sometimes they are just harder to thread in.

But I would run a tap through your BB just to make sure the threads are clean.
Then go slowly with the BB.

36 x 24 means it is Italian threaded...

Take it to a bike shop and have them chase the threads, as I previously suggested. I wouldn't try to force and risk potential damage. At least if the bike shop screws it up, then they are liable for it.

The OP's first pics clearly show 36x24, so it's Italian. No problem there. I agree with @Pottsy, the dried threadlocker on the Shimano version makes it difficult to screw in by hand. I prefer to take a fine awl and remove the threadlocker and use an antiseize compound instead.

I have to be the biggest moron ..

It does fit just that I need to apply more turning force on the wrench to screw in the bb into the frame. Kind of scrarey when doing it as paranoid about damaging the thread. Having the loctite on the bb does not help.

Not moronic at all. Much better to stop when something doesn't feel right if you're not familiar with it than to just keep going and either strip it or break something and THEN figure out what you should have done in the first place. We've all been there I'm sure.
