Agreed... Shimano will do what's best for them. That said, I read an interesting article, or maybe it was even a post by some very knowledgeable person, about the whole 30mm spindle thing and while it is true that they can make it lighter with aluminum etc., there are other properties in play (I think thermal expansion was one property mentioned) that still make steel a very good spindle choice over other alloys, and that the 24mm spindle was pretty much ideal for steel. Having a larger BB shell is beneficial for frame builders however, as there is more real estate down there in a very crowded area to play with joining big tubes etc.

My speculation is that they will have two cranks, one with and one without power meter. I expect it to be premium priced, just as Dura Ace is. And, given my great respect for Shimano engineering, I expect it will work very well.

Well it's relative what "premium priced" means on the PM market. I'd be surprised if it would be more than Pioneer's DA offering ($1,499).

Some cool info: potentially paired with pedals as well in some form showing pressure etc.... plus speculated pricing

The graphic is from the shimano bike fitting system that has been out for a while. See http://bikefitting.com

If you watch the video, you can see the computer display.

Sorry, but it was an April Fool... even if I hope that all specs will be true, like the price !

Really poor form by Shimano regarding the Velonews article.

The video is from 2014, and this was covered in bike radar. They are old renders.

It's not a photo, it's an Argon18 render of a generic shimano group. It has nothing to do with the new DA, unfortunately.
