New dura-ace R9100

The rear wheel goes in and comes out on my 9150-equipped C60 just like any bike I’ve ever owned. The wheel is Fulcrum Speed 40 with Vittoria 25mm.

That’s because there’s loads of room between the rear tire and the BB lug. But there are other frames where the molded BB area is pretty massive and extends back towards the rear tire. It is primarily these situations that can experience a problem.

What Calnago speaks of is a thing. I have encountered a few frames where rear wheel removal is very difficult with 9100.

Approx 150g saving over R785 with the Ultegra, nearly 200g saved with DA, might treat myself in the new year.

Just the question of whether it's worth paying a bit more for the Dura Ace, anyone know how they compare ergonomically? I've heard good things about the feel of 9170 and have never been completely happy with R785 as my hands aren't huge.

I love the feel of my 9170 shifters. You really cannot tell it is an hydraulic shifter. If you are a big guy however you may prefer a bigger shifter. For small hands it is ideal imho.

Is there a way to "hack" E-tube so I can set 11-30 cassette with 9070 rear derailleur? It would be nice to have proper gear ratio on my Garmin..

Unless Shimano has updated the wireless protocol it doesn't include actual cog sizes, only something similar to "2nd cog front, 5th cog rear". In order for your Garmin to translate this into actual gear ratios you need to set the size of the cassette and chainrings in the settings on the Garmin itself.

Thanks! I have found the settings in Garmin:) E-Tube doesn´t offer 11-30 cassette when setting synchro shifting, just 11-28 max. for 9070, but Garmin can be set for 11-30, which is more important to me..

I'm using the sw-r9150 switch shifters as climbing shifters under the tops of the bar. I'm playing around with different positions - the right shifter is further back and easier to use with the thumb but harder with the index finger. With one side I cut the bar tape, the other side I wrapped the tape around the shifter...I'm not sure which method works best but the cutting is probably a bit cleaner. Both shifters plug directly into the 5-port junction box.

Tristan, what did you end up with as far as the shifter button position goes? It looks like you have the button pointing in the opposite direction to what the Shimano manual shows, not that it matters. If you're not thrilled, what would you change? Asking because I started the install and there are so many options, I'm getting analysis paralysis! At least I decided to shift with just thumbs!

Is it me or do they both look like they’re the same reach? My R785 levers seem very long, even with a 10mm shorter stem I think it’s a longer reach than my 105 5800’s.

@Nefarious, are you talking about the potential issue of difficult rear wheel removal? It’s not super common, and probably you don’t have any. Curious... when you remove your rear wheel from your frame, do you leave the chain on your large cogs?
