No friction concerns. They just don’t seem necessary, this removable “lid” under the BB acts as a cable guide already. I don’t see anything against also leaving them on though...

Yeah I basically agree
I think their only function is for threading the cable thru the frame tubes.

On my previous Fuji I went to change the front derailleur cable & that liner was basically
disintegrated for the most part inside the tube
When I tried to pull cable out & leave it in it just all crumbled

I think in the future I will always pull them off once cable is threaded.
Then save to attach when pulling cable out to change
