Thread mining here, but how did they go as a MTB pedal?
I often wonder how much harder a single sided pedal would be to manage if it actually hung at the correct entry angle like road pedals do.

I have mixed opinions on this. If you ride places where you know you are going to stop often specially in challenging hills when take off is hard, or those near impossible sections ....these are not ideal.

In other words is the kind of weight saving with some small sacrifice.

I ride similar, 1-sided Ritchey Micros on the road.

For MTB or CX I'd go double sided unless low weight was top priority.

Hi Guys,

I just bought a Xpedo R-force Ti-Ti clipless pedal which is old version with 1 sealed bearing and 1 DU bearing.

Would like to ask if the DU bearing will affect our performance? I'm asking because the pedal seems to be quite tight when spinning.

Can I upgrade to all sealed bearing myself? If yes, can you guys recommend which bearing (size/ model) to use?

How have the pedals held up since 2015? Were KCNC chainring bolts enough to protect bearings from elements? Do you remember what torque was used for the chainring bolts? How's bearing life, were these hybrid ceramic?

Apparently, my revision of R-Force Ti uses fasteners unlike shown in earlier posts:

The cross screw did not budge and I dared not to strip it. Maybe there's a trick to it? Plastic cap deforms easily.

Maybe not even that, this video says that Wellgo CroMo spindle nuts are right/left threaded, but Ti spindles are right threaded. I inquired Xpedo for service info and will report here when they reply. If both screws are regular right threaded, I'd try to replace these with Ti. Chances are slim I'll be able to find a left handed Ti screw. I wonder why Xpedo did not make all the steel parts out of Ti: springs, spring tension bolt, spring axle, inner race bolt are all steel, quite a bit to save if you have access to right tools to manufacture replacements.
