Assos apparel questions
I love Assos bibshorts, but I have to say the Rapha PoweWeave is becoming my favorite hot weather choice.... Yes the suspenders will cut into you if you don't wear a base layer, yes your private parts are squeezed together, but I really love the compression, firmness of the pad and the lightness of the material.
I hope Assos is looking into these weaving materials for their bibs for my summer rides...
Ps, i had to send the Rapha PoweWeave bibs back for repairs after less then 6 months of use, as the stiches were letting lose... not a great look for a premium product with premium price, being made in the EU.

I definitely notice the squeeze, but it's been years since I've worn any other bibs, so I just assumed that that's just what bibs do...nice to know it doesn't have to be that way.
I went ahead and ordered a couple pairs of the RSR's
PS: Excel Sports have them for $238 and the RS for $188 https://www.excelsports.com/category/bi ... ize=&sort=
What does this Rapha PoweWeave do? The RSR uses a woven fabric.
The PowerWeave is visually a thick weave and is nice in the summer. This is one of the only Rapha bibs that I like the most. But aside from that, I'd rather go with the compressive RSRs. The RS is similar to Cento material...RSR similar to Campionissimo material which I like. Feels higher quality...besides being more costly.
edit: Nice price on the RSRs from Excel Sports!

You mean the stitches where the leg grippers are? or stitches in general. Mine are still holding up but I don't wear them as much as the Assos bibs. The PowerWeaves do cost more than Assos, surprisingly.Willy86 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 10:42 pmI love Assos bibshorts, but I have to say the Rapha PoweWeave is becoming my favorite hot weather choice.... Could the Rapha PowerWeave be similar to the Bioracer Sirio? The latter is thick but airy and goesn't get soggy in the rain like standard spandex does.

So what are the differences between the following bibs :
- Assos Equipe RS S9
- Assos Mille GT Summer T GTS
- Assos Mille GT
Price wise they're all within a margain of €120-180,-
But I can't really see all the differences, especially with the GT and GTS? Looking for a new all day bib short. No racing, just regular riding. The Mille GT fits me fine, legs are a bit long. But what differences am I gonna look for with the GTS and RS S9?

GTS is a newer more compressive material. RS islet compressive still and a tighter fit overall. GTS has now superseded the GT.

Yeah I figured, so a bit more compressive but still the fit off the GT. I'll try them and see how they fit. I heard something about the GTS having longer legs by default? Anyone know this is true?
And quality wise, the GTS is now closer to the RS? Just a different fit?
I'd say almost a halfway house between the older GT and the RS. I haven't heard that they're longer but I doubt there's much difference in quality at those price points.

Right, ordered a GTS aswell to see how they fit compared to the GT. Price wise only like €50 difference so marginal. Let's see how this one is.
Just to follow up on this - to those who are interested. Received the Equipe RS s9 in XL just now, first turbo session and the fit is spot on. OK maybe a little muffin top but compressive where it needs to be, looser where it doesn't if you know what I mean - length is not too short and I do have long legs..GS100 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:31 pmFor those of you who've used Assos for a while..
Is the length for shorts now definitively shorter than that of my old F1.13.S5 Campionissimo? Looking at replacing these 7 year old much loved shorts with Equipe RS S9. 189cm 89kg wearing XL and find the length acceptable.
I realise this has been a theme in this mega thread, and I did trawl through some..
..and thanks again to Kjetil for his reassurance, you were right.
Initial impression is I would rate these above Castelli, Sportful, old assos and Le Col currently all in my wardrobe.

My initial impressions with the GTS bib and GT summer shirt are good! Looks and feels good! Anyone have any long term review/quality review of the GT/Equipe shirts/bibs? How long do they last before they ''shine'' through?
Thinking about also getting a EQUIPE RS AERO SS JERSEY for the hotter summers!

Quick review of the Mille GTS bibshort.
The fit is a bit tighter then the previous Mille bibshort. It might be because of the more compressive material but it seemed cut smaller. I wear a M in both Cento and older Mille but with the new GTS the M is borderline - might be better in an L. (183cm, 77kg). I do wear an L in Equipe, and Championissimo. Will see if they bag out a bit with additional wearings.
One thing worth noting is that the pad is super wide and there is tons of material up front. It kind of bunches up around your junk so things get complicated in that area. Could lead to some groin region chaffing. The pad is very thick and firm under the sit bones. Will probably break down and get softer as it wears (unfortunately) in typical Assos fashion .
As for leg length, I was using leg warmers so it was impossible to tell how they compare to the previous model. I did a try on without leg warmers and they are at least as long and perhaps longer then previous. The leg gripper seems very good.
The separate panel over the groin does reduce the ball squeeze a bit but not to the level of the Equipe etc.

Thanks for that, Mr. Gib. I shall avoid the GTS, just like I've avoided any "long distance" Assos shorts ever since the Mille_S5.
Have done three rides (say 200 km total) in my T 23 RS (RS Spring/Fall bib shorts S9). Magnificent piece, even better than it's predecessor the Tiburushorts S7.
