I’m interested as well in the comparison between the 2 gilets.. if I were you I’d put into contention the alleycat as well, as I really like it. The whitish/silver colour is quite reflective, pack well and it’s light. Quite useful when bombing downhill in summer or as an extra layer over the bonka jacket in winter.
The downside for me is that in the shoulder seasons sometimes I prefer having a sleeveless gilet for a bit more of freedom of movement and easier to put on/store in your pocket while keeping riding
My doubt is that the 2/3 RS gilet is “too” warm for our intended use

Yeah, I have the AlleyCat. It's a really nice piece. I was a bit concerned about durability initially given how thin the fabric is, but it's held up well for about 9 months of use. Perfect for the start of a ride, chilly decents, or a mid-ride drizzle. But like you, I'd prefer something sleeveless as well, for a bit more mobility and for riding in aerobars on my TT bike.

I've used the AlleyCat and I like it as well. I can compare the two gilets but haven't ridden in them yet. Not that time of year here quite yet.

The rain gilet fabric is like the schlosshund evo rain jackets (vice the newer targa schlosshund) so as was noted earlier probably not as breathable as the back of the RS gilet, but that would be warmer in the front. The rain gilet also has a pretty good seal around the arm holes, where the RS is more of a raw edge, the rain gilet has elastic there and fits to my shoulder completely, if you're going to vent it, it'd be via the zipper.

One thing I noted reading the earlier comments, the RS rain gilet will actually pack smaller than the RS 2/3 does. They both roll up easily into a burrito shape that'll go in jersey pocket but the insulation in the front of the 2/3 keeps it from being quite as small as the rain vest which by itself isn't going to fill a pocket. You could probably get the rain gilet into a small ball but not the little soft roll of the alley cat.

Hello, I am in the market for a winter jacket or combo to challenge the Spanish "Winter" in Barcelona.
I guess the Mille Ultraz will be more than enough (perhaps too much for me) and the Mille Evo will do fine as well, however I like the RS line a lot because of the fit, looks and zippers. So currently I am in doubt if the Equipe RS spring/fall Targa jacket will be enough for colder temperatures (0-5 degrees).

Normally I ride all year round in summer shorts with knee/leg warmers and I used to have some basic winter gear from another brand which was fine for most of my riding conditions. I can make combinations with my Equipe RS rain gilet or Equipe RS rain jacket for descents or harsh winds on the flats.

My main concerns of the Equipe RS Targa is if the fabric on the arms, perhaps with a decent long sleeve base layer, will be sufficient for these temperatures?

Thanks!

The Equipe isn't warm enough IMO. The sleeves have almost zero wind resistance. The Ultraz will be too much I think. I'd go with the Evo.

Thanks, and adding a long sleeve base layer below the Equipe?

I'd still say too cold for 0-5c.

Ok, better go with the Mille GT Evo or perhaps Ultraz (I like the full black better and it has a build in neck warmer) as a proper winter jacket then.
I have already a Mille GT spring/fall jacket which makes buying an adittional spring/fall jacket pretty much useless or a very expensive swap.

As someone above stated, go with the Mille GT Evo, Ultraz is too hot for 0*- +5* (I have both of them).

Agreed. The Mille GT jacket has a wider operating range than the Equipe as well. I have both and love them both. The Equipe is superb but has a fairly narrow operating range for me and zero weather protection whereas the Mille GT can take a light shower etc.

Hi all,
Thanks for your inputs!

In the end I decided to go with the EVO version as mentioned the ULTRAZ is too much for the riding conditions here around Barcelona and the EVO is a very good versitile jacket.
When there are days when it's colder, well, I guess I have to pedal harder or use my RS gilet or RS jacket on top or an even thicker baselayer below.

The 140€ price difference of the Targa spring/fall jacket is not very justifyable in features vs the Mille spring/fall jacket as likely the Targa spring/fall jacket needs to be complemented in order to be more funcional. If the Targa was around the 230-250€ price point it's worth considering, so I will check it next year when there are price drops.

I wish they'd stop putting neoprene on the bottom of their winter tights...... just makes you sweat

Yeah I was hoping the same.. neoprene is good to have in certain situations, but overall it makes you sweat a lot, so not sure if the trade off is worth while. They could have offered 2 different winter bibs: keeping the neoprene on the GTO line and removing it from the RS series.
I wonder as well what are the ‘actual’ differences between the RS and GTO besides the pad.

They listened to you about coming back to the traditional names
