From what kookie writes I gather that the Mille GT Winter Jacket is somewhat more snug fitting than the iJ.Habu.5 but not as snug as my iJ.BonkaCento.6.

I never tried the iJ.BonkaMille.6 which IIRC was marketed as Regular Fit, like the iJ.Habu.5.
the iJ.BonkaMille.6 is a looser fit than the il.Bonka which has the more race fit. Mille in the Bonka side is a more relaxed fit. The regular Habu and regular Bonka fit the same. the BonkaCento and BonkaMille was the previous naming convention for race and relaxed fits.

Bonka gloves are the best I have ever owned.

Fully waterproof and very warm..
Fully waterproof like you could go out in a steady London rain for 3 hours and your hands would be dry? I'm in the greater Vancouver area and I have never found a glove that is "waterproof". I use neoprene paddling gloves, much the same as the Castelli Diluvio. Wet, but warm like a wetsuit. I tried the Sportful Fiandre gloves, made with the Outdry fabric and they lasted about 1 hour before wetting out. I see Castelli has some newer offerings like the RoS, but their older waterproof designs like the Tempesta worked as badly as the Sportful in the very wet.

Yesterday I visited the Assos shop here in Seoul after reading through this thread. I tried on both the Bonka and the Ultraz jackets. I ended up walking out the Bonka for several reasons. The most important reason that I chose the Bonka was for the fit. I am 193 cm and 85 kgs and I tried on an XL (everything that I have from Assos is XL). I do not have massive biceps (28 cm), but the Ultraz was way too tight around my arms. I have fairly long arms. This is the first jacket of any brand that fit my arms well. Next, the Assos webiste says that the Bonka is more breathable and that the Ultraz is more water resistant. I put a premium on breathability. I hate feeling clammy, and I already have a Shakedry jacket for the rain. Also, the Bonka was lighter than the Ultraz. The materials on the Bonka felt much nicer to me YMMV. However, what isn't subjective is the zipper. The zipper on the Bonka is so easy to find and use with a gloved hand.

This morning I went on a 150+K ride with 1500ish vertical meters from Seoul up near the DMZ. I road past many frozen rice patties. I wore Tiburu gloves with the lobster claw over glove for the 1st part of the ride, Assos legwarmers, Mille bibs, Fugu (or is it Fugi) shoe covers, Equip SS summer jersey, the Fall 2.4 Skinfoil, and the Bonka jacket. The first few hours of the ride the temperature was about -3C and it was 6.5C when I arrived home. I was cool, but not cold in the early part of the ride. However, even at -3C I unzipped a bit on the 17% climb. I unzipped and zipped the jacket throughout the ride. The zipper is so easy to work one handed. By the end of the ride all of my layers were soaked through. Even the outer shell of the jacket was damp, but it didn't feel clammy. I never felt cold or uncomfortable due to the sweat. I probably should have worn the 3.4 Skinfoil, but the 2.4 was acceptable.

This was by far the best jacket that I have ever worn. I am glad that I chose the Bonka over the Ultraz.

Oldsport - I would suggest that you would be more comfortable in a 3.4 skinfoil and ditching the summer jersey. They don't work that well as an inbetween layer, and the jacket is designed to be worn directly over a base layer. It should help with the management of sweat, especially when you are climbing and unzip a bit.

I've ridden in Seoul - but only up to the radio mast everyone goes to. I remember it being cold!

Hi guys, I have multiple assos summer bibs and also a pair of assos leg warmers. Do you think that tiburu bib + leg warmers are equivalent to habu or to bonka tights in term of warmness ? I am thinking about buying some but do not know wich one to choose since my actual combo is perfect for me

yes. Habu 5 has the S5 pad
Bonka Cento is a relaxed Bonka S7.
latest Bonka S7 (i have the S size) seems more relaxed than my Habu S7 (about right for a M), but HabuMille S7 is definitely more relaxed.

there is a difference in what you have. the number scheme then was for the temps...6 or 7 being the coldest. Cento back then is the relaxed version IIRC.

this is why its impossible to jump right into the Assos naming scheme if you didn't have any gear going back with the orange pads.

like RTW says...ditch the summer jersey and use a heavier base layer. The Bonka jacket i use it like a winter jersey. seems to regulate wind and cold temps fairly well. If its wet out and moist, I may wear the Equipe RS rain jacket on top to cut the damp wind that affects me on descents. That usually helps and ends up less bulky (without a jersey inbetween).

Tiburu bibs. Thank you for the answer, I think I will go with the Habu

Not sure about leg warmers but I’d suppose they only have one layer of material. While habu tights have two layers on the area around and over knees. Or if not two layers it is some thicker material. You can see stitches. So habu should be warmer than tiburu bibs+leg warmers.

That's exactly what I did this morning it was about -1C. I dropped the jersey and added the 3.4 Skinfoil. I only road for an hour on a flat course this morning, but I was mostly dry. I might go up that radio tower (Namsan) this afternoon.

@kode54: I write about jackets. Why do you quote me and write about tights? Confusion?

Over to Seoul, sort of:
In temperatures around freezing I use the Skinfoil 4.4 Winter with just my iJ.Bonka.6 jacket on top. For cloves the discontinued Fugugloves, and on my head the Fuguhelm.

Legs:

Winter 4.4 (new nomenclature 3/3 Ultra I gather) temperatures:
I have a LL.Milletights_S7 size L which I don't like much* so I prefer using it for shorter sorties.
Tiburushorts size M , legwarmers_Evo7 and an LL.Habu_S7 no insert size L on top for long sorties.

Winter 3.4 (or the new 3/3 without ultra):
That Tiburushorts or it's predecessor T.607_5 and Legwarmers (I have both the older thicker (S5?) and the current single layer water repellent Evo7 versions)
Équipeshorts plus the LL.Habu_S7.

*I have considered buying an LL.Bonkatights_s7 in size M with size L leg lenght. It would hopefully fit properly. Also It would not squeeze my genitals away, but give them a nice place to rest.
