Question to those of you new ro ASSOS - is it a brand you've been aware of, or totally new to you? What brought it to your attention?
I started riding in a university town in a rural area in the midwestern US. Small riding/racing community. At our local “Wednesday Worlds”, a local doctor wore Assos bibs, rode a Colnago and had an SRM (Science model, maybe?). He was a hard old bird. Nice guy, too.

For a couple years after that, I was racing quite a bit, in team supplied kit. Voler, Castelli, Ale, and some others I can’t remember.

Now, I’m married and rarely racing. Ironically, I’m probably the strongest I’ve ever been. I have more interest in long days, and exploring new areas. Getting in to bike packing. Assos had/has a great reputation for solid, super durable, well made bib shorts. I can change in to my non-riding clothes, wash my Assos bibs in a creek, hang them up to dry and ride in them again the next day.

I will say this. In some cases, your jerseys look like they came straight out of the 1980s. I don’t expect you to try to match the latest Instagram brand, but I’d never wear anything but your solid color tops. And, in contrast, the bibs could use a bit more spice, appearance-wise. The USA and Suisse versions of the S7 are the best looking options. Replace that with “ASSOS” again and I’d buy a pair right now.

I'm not sure I'd agree! They used to be a little off the pace, but not anymore.

If I had a Bonka I wouldn’t change to an Ultraz.

I’ve only really started building full Assos outfits this year having loved their shorts for a few years.
Same here, I just started switching over to Assos from Castelli.

It's Black Friday and just ordered the Ultraz jacket along with other accessories...Geez this is almost as bad as "n+1" for bikes!

Ok, I’ll retract that. I hadn’t taken a look at 2018/2019 stuff. I’d only been looking at the stuff on SwissIconic.

My apologies. Definitely a much better looking collection now.

Aware of for a very long time - and was out of budget for an equally long time.

Tried the shorts when th S7 Equipe came out and loved them. So it built from there.
Yup. The same for me. I think I got my first Assos bib shorts at around $140 when it went on sale. Loved the quality so I'm getting new bib tights. The new tights set me back $205 apiece on sale.

Another brand that I'm starting to build a collection is Panache out of Boulder Colorado. The quality and fit are impeccable. I like their jerseys so I ofter I wear a Panache jersey and an Assos bib shorts.

Still considering the Mille GT WJ (non-Ultraz) as a replacement for my early iJ.Habu.5, which is so old that it has only one unzippered pocket and two large zippered ones. I never liked that pocket arrangement.
Done deal! A good web shop had a storewide discount between x-mas and new year, so I took the chance, expecting it to be too roomy and the sleeves too short. Lo and behold! It's a tighter fit than the Habujacket, and the arm lenght adequate for my weird build (All arms and legs, 183 cm with a 197 cm "wing span").

My Habujacket is now retired, and this Hashoogi*-jacket shall be debuted as soon as the temperature passes +5 C again. Don't hold your breath. It's all studded tires, Bonka/Ultraz plus a Falkenzahn on top round here now.

*It's a very good thing that Assos behind all this newly-wrangled Raphaesque naming nomenclature retains the quirky garment names, like Hashoogi, Eisenherz and Schlosshund, printed on the left sleeve.

As many mentioned, I was well aware of the company for as far as I can remember but always "out of reach" in term of pricing.
Lately there were a few discounts and bought first a jacket and then a pair of thights and so far, so good.

Fashionista question for @RTW; any plan on longer fitting bibs and longer sleeves jerseys?

And any idea when we’ll see the new S9 shorts in the UK?

^Just noticed that the proper name for the Mille GT Spring/Fall Jacket is RitterKapsel. Gotta love it.

Yes, that would be my question as well. Pricing is not the issue, but Longer sleeves and longer leg length bib shorts would be great.

I know that short sleeves is more classic, but just prefer longer sleeves. And I hate making the comparison to Rapha, as quality is very different, but their arm sleeves are longer in general and they do offer the Aerojersey with sleeve length that are perfect. And they offer some of their bib shorts in regular and long length to please the classic crowd or short guy and the ones who just don’t want to wear a ladies length bib short. :)

The quality and technical part of Assos is first class, best in market as long as you ok with paying high end of the market. But keeping in mind that Rapha and a few other brands are in that high pricing sector as well, but quality is just a little different.

See Rapha shorts a little too long for my tastes, even the regular. Same for the aero jersey....

Perfect Arm Length :) But would wear more Assos if they sort out a few of these niggling issues.

Does anyone in the know have any idea when the new S9 Bib shorts will become avaiblable? I'm in desperate need of another two pairs of shorts and although they're some killer deals going around on S7 Equipe's etc I'd rather try the new design.
