If i need to choose between Specialissima or Oltre, definetly Specialissima.

I had a hard decision between Specialissima and Colnago C60 when i was buying a new frame few months earlier. One of the reason i did not choose Specialisima was sizing and geometry.

So maybe in near future, so i'll use this thread to ask about sizing.

Im riding 50S Colnago C60, which suit me perfectly. Using 110mm -7 deg stem, i use high headsetup cone cup (i think it's 16 mm), and 12 mm spacers under the stem.Saddle is 72.7 cm height, with 52mm setback

So which size will suit me Specialissima better? 55 or 53?

And is it possible to replace low height Headset cup (which is 8mm) with higher one (like 15mm).

The stack of my C60 is 547mm, and headset cup is 16mm.

So to have same position on 53 cm Specialissima and considering the stack of 529 and headset cup height of just 8mm, i'll need to go with 38mm spacers under the stem which is a bit too much (if there is a chance for 16mm height headset cup, then ill need 30mm spacers). On this size i'll need 110 or 120mm stem

If i go with 55 cm size, then first problem is 73.5 deg seatpost angle, but i can solve it maybe with 12 mm or 0 mm setback seatpost.

To have the same position as on my C60, considering the stack of 545mm and headset cup height of 8mm, this mean that ill need 22mm spacers (which is ok.If there is a way to put 16mm height headset cup , then i'll need 14mm spacers).

But the biggest problem here will be reach which is 5mm longer then on my C60, so that mean i'll need shorter stem (105mm), which can make unstable front end.

So do u think there is proper size for me for Specialissima frame, and which size will suit me better? 53 (which is a bit on small size) or 55 (which is a bit on big size)?

5mm reach is nothing. I'd bet you couldn't even tell if you were riding them blind. And stems are generally 100mm or 110mm.

And top tube difference 1 cm.Or not that a problem as well?

Overall reach is the main number to look at. I'd go with the 110mm stem myself.

Go for 55 if you are pleased with how your Colnago fits and handles. You might need to go a size down with the stem, but that'll be OK. The front center on the Bianchi is 1 mm shorter, the chainstays 2 mm longer, so the weight distribution on the wheels won't change much with the shorter stem. Steering might feel more sensitive in your hands, but it should carve the corners just fine.

I dont like premature reviews but i can give a few infos.

It is stiff, very much so.

Stiffer than my 2015 tarmac with the same build.

It looks crazy good - the celeste color is really impressive.

But there is something very bad about the same color too - it is matte and not very smooth - so if it gets dirty it will stay dirty and does not let go of the oil grime and dirt.

A LOT harder to clean than my tarmac which you can essentially wipe down and it is mostly clean.

I have not felt the countervail - but the ride was only 50k.

Will come back again with more rides done.

No Photo can do this paintjob justice - it does not look as good on any photo as it does in reality

Beautiful bike. A few question on your sizing and that very bike:

Is it a 57cm frame?

What is the saddle height (cm, bb center to top seat along seat tube)?
What is the saddle nose to center bar (cm) length?
How much saddle to bar drop is on the photo?

Trying to figure out how a 57 would look/fit me.

Thank you,

Carl

first post here... Got the bike for about a month and indeed it's a very special bike. It's light but not super light, but it rides super smooth. 14.2lbs with Garmin mount, cages and pedals for a size 55. :D

Looks amazing! Any chance you can share some of the measurements on that 55cm frame:

Whats the saddle height (center bb to top saddle)
Distance saddle tip to center bar (stem length used)
Approximate saddle to bar drop?

I am trying to figure out of 55 or 57 is the way to go for myself. Thank you in advance

Shouldn't you be reading the geometry charts instead of looking at pictures?

I'm about 5'11.5" tall with 32.5" inseam. Saddle height appx 750mm. Saddle tip to center bar about 550mm with 110mm stem. Bar drop is about 115mm and I find it's pretty comfy. Hope this helps.

Ofcourse i have already done that....as in most cases, more than one size can be made to fit well. It's a matter of getting an idea of proportions (total spacers/stem/saddle post showing length etc.) for my fit.

Hi folks,

Recently sold my Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 2015 and thinking of getting the Specialissima to replace it. Absolutely love the Matte Celeste!

Anyway, have a couple of questions re the sizing. I'm about 5'11" (179cm), with an inseam of about 84cm, and I was a size M on the Ultimate. Was wondering what size would be suitable, judging from the website geometry charts the Reach of the 55 seems pretty close with the Ultimate (I was advised by my LBS to use near-zero setback seat post as well as 90mm stem on the Ultimate though - so not sure if M was the ideal size for me seeing that those changes were needed). The Stack of the Specialissima 55 is about 10mm less than the Ultimate though - due to a shorter headtube. I was also on 27.5mm of spacers on the Canyon.

Thing I'm undecided about is whether to go with 55 (which on paper looks pretty close to the Canyon size M, apart from a lower stack on the Specialissima), or go with a size 53. I've been told by my LBS that the Specialissima does have a more aggressive and longer stance than the UItimate hence 55 might be a bit of a stretch.

Any advice? It would be crazy if I went for the smaller 53 frame?

(P/S : Side question - still second guessing if I had made the ride decision to sell the Canyon Ultimate and get the Specialissima instead. what would you guys do if you had to choose between the two?)

Thanks and have a great weekend!

I too just got a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 2017' model in size M. Both fit me pretty well as the Ultimate has a more comfy position. The Ultimate comes with 100mm stem / handlebar combo and I put a 110mm stem on my Bianchi.

Did you get the size 55 for the Specialissima? How do the two compare in your opinion

Finally received my Specialissima, very happy so far, the matte finish is surprisingly easy to clean.

Complete weight without saddle bag is 5.96 kg. Frame weight in size 55 830g, fork 345g.

Configuration:
DT Swiss Mon Chasseral RC 28 Clincher wheels
Tufo Calibra Lite 150g tire (have been using those for the last 4 years, no puncture yet, fingers crossed)
AX Lightness Endurance Plus saddle and Europa Premium seat post
SRAM eTap with blips and Quarq Dzero power meter
TA Specialités 50/34 chainrings
eeBrakes with standard SRAM Red cables and housings
Tune quick release
SRAM XG-1190 11-28
KMC X11SL DLC chain
3T stem and Ergonova bar
Speedplay Zero Titanium

Now waiting for the Berk Lupina saddle and hopefully he will release the new seat post soon as I’m sitting too far forward and can’t move back any further with the AX setup.
