Aye, they've offered me exactly that: to replace power unit, interface, and charger with the respective v2 versions.

I take it you've not had any issues with the v2 power unit purchased from them? And when exactly was that? Cheers!

v1 units have probably been in storage for a long time now.

The PUs have to be recharged periodically - if they aren't, the battery in the PU, being a Lithium Ion, can suffer a problem called under-volting.

This will give the symptoms described. All Campagnolo vendors who attended the technical training run in 2014, 2015 and this year have had the problem emphasised in their training and in any case, it does indicate that regular charging is required in the Athena v1 EPS PU manual.

We recommend an absolute maximum recharging interval of once every six months, used or not. This is true for v1, v2 and v3, whether fitted to a bicycle or held in stock / storage.

Thanks, Graeme. I've contacted a few shops, and so far Rose Bikes and Sigma Sport have replied, saying that they don't do any recharging of PUs.

No, the V2 PU has been trouble-free. I bought a second one off ebay for another bike and it is absolutely fine too.
Ribble swapped my V1 PU for the V2 unit a year ago.

Pleased to report that the 2 EPS v2 units I got from Ribble (one as a replacement for the dodgy v1 unit, one for another bike) seem to be in good shape.

Got three bikes equipped by now with a mix of Athena v1 mechs & shifters and Chorus v2 interface & power unit (one of those three is the stationary bicycle shaped object on the turbo trainer, yes, I know I'm silly).

Not one bit of trouble with these setups, everything works as expected and is ridiculously lush! :twinkle: Thanks for your help, Miller.

Just wondering if someone knew, should the system completely shut down if i've positioned the collar correctly? Just wondering as i've lined it all up right (so i thought) but the system still works if i shifts, does that mean i'm missing the on/off part of the battery?

If it still shifts, the magnetic band is not correctly positioned. Try varying the band position incrementally. You should find a position where shifting stops working.
