Shimano 9000 crank with 10 sp Di2 - is it ever simple?

I've read posts where some have, but it's not clear if a 10 sp or 11 sp chain is used and whether front shifting is in any way compromised as a result...?

Shimano say it doesn't work but they sure would say that...

YES, it can be done and works great!
