Blacking out

I'd like to black out some components which have logos that are laser etched onto them. I've managed to remove the decals which are on top the surface of the bars/stem with acetone but the etched parts, top cap and headset crown race cap have logos Id like to tone down.

I just wondered if anyone had any tips.

Cheers.

I've used either a sharpie marker or touch-up paint from the auto store.

Cheers for taking then time to reply. I was thinking something along those lines. I take it you just paint over the desired area then wipe the excess off leaving the logo area blacked. I was hoping the paint would adhere to the etched area? I planned on trying it out on some old parts first.

I've tried a Sharpie on a few different components, but the ink turns out shinier than the components, even when dry. It also has a slightly purplish tint. Doesn't look good. Maybe a different brand of marker would look better, but I haven't found one.

Aye, I noticed a similar purple tinge on some embroidered lettering I tried to hide on be saddle I have. I do fancy giving the paint a go.

I'm looking to do this aswell on a headset/topcap, and on a Extralite Stem. Let me now how it goes.
