dura ace 9000 skewers issue

ok. have a set of dura skewers with my c50 wheels - beautiful things. The issue is i have a chunky fork on my SST fuji. so skewer has to sit 'vertically' rather than in the aero 'horizontal' position. otherwise it strikes the fork (chunky skewers the 9000 skewers are as is the fork).
in a nutshell - it p!sses me off it has to sit in the stoooopid vertical (non-zero) position.

what is the best option;

1) replace front skewer with another? - if yes which skewer? (i like dura skewers, solid lock down etc)
2) replace both skewers (not too worried about a non matching set) with a new pair? if yes what?

under 2) i figure the zipp steel skewers in black are good?

comments?
i was hoping to maintain the awesomeness of the dura ace skewers on some level.
help appreciated

The non-aero ness of the position is minimal (if existent). Is there wind tunnel data about the position of the Dura Ace 9k skewers? Maybe they are more aero in that position.....how much do they weigh?

127g for the pair. the above zipps are around 80g a pair. i dare say there is no difference in speed (and i'm not too worried on that front). its more that they don't like right sitting in that position.

i would have thought they would create a bit of drag?

Flip the skewer around onto the right side of the bike (view from saddle). That puts the lever underneath the axle center and *might* allow it to clear.

swap the fuji for a frame that can acommodate the 9000 skewers !

alternatively, you can send me the 9000 skewers, i will send you a set of 7800 skewers

Fuji forks don't work well with any Shimano skewers due to the orientation of the arm.

The zipp skewers are not all that. I have had one fall apart and they don't clamp all that well.

If you want to go real slick you can get the Tune skyline or similar with no levers at all.

I use nothing but DA skewers. I've tried lighter ones but they just don't work the same. I also had issues fitting them to one of my forks, but I just put up with it. :)

Dura Ace QRs are the best available in terms of function and performance. There are lighter ones, but none better. The 9000s don't fit against fork or dropout quite the way the 7800s do, but the aerodynamic loss is so marginal I would never care. If I was OCD, I'd be more concerned with having a lesser QR.

Campagnolo skewers will avoid the clearance problem and they are just as good as DA. Fraction lighter, too - about 120g for the set.

Fighting words. I see a war developing.

Campagnolo skewers used to be OK, and they probabaly still are, but they are no longer the classic design and are no longer shiny.
