I'm on the brink of ordering a new bike. Just like to check my calculations for sizing are correct. I've ridden a standard sl gen8 madone, nice and comfy bar the stem being too short.
Been riding a 2019 venge with 20mm spacers (could slam but I never did) and a 110mm stem.
New bike, is a Madone slr7 gen 8 medium, with a 100mm stem.
This would put me in a slightly more upright position which is what I'm looking for.
Does that add up correctly?
Bar reach is the same for both.
The data in the picture, venge on the left, madone on the right

I'm hoping someone with fitting knowledge can help clarify a few points for me.

Suppose my current cleat position is 20mm aft, so the pedal spindle is 20mm behind the ball of the foot, with a saddle height of 800mm from the BB to the top of the saddle. Let's say I move the cleat 10mm fore, it is my understanding this moves the foot/shoe rearward thereby shifting the centre of gravity more towards the back of the bike.

Assuming this is correct, and assuming I want to keep the same centre of gravity, does that mean I need to move the saddle forward 10mm to compensate? Also to maintain current leg extension I would need to lower the saddle in the seat tube to keep it at 800mm from the BB?

Again assuming I am not misunderstanding so far, the net effect would result in opening up the hip while maintaining current centre of mass and leg extension, the cost is the reach to the bars will be reduced by 10mm?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Scott Foil for my new race bike.

I'm undecided on what frame size to get and could use some advice from you guys.

I'm 188cm tall and 87.5cm inseam. I think my arms are average (or maybe a bit longer wingspan than averagenever measured accurately). I would consider myself quite flexible with good mobility (can touch floor with whole palm while bending forward). I had a bike fit done quite some time ago and have since then worked on my mobility/flexibility and changed my position on the bike so I would't consider that bike fit very relevant still. Had about 12cm drop, 790mm saddle height (from bb) and 12cm stem on a bike with 395mm reach.

Geometry chart with the bike I currently ride (Supersix Hi-mod 2010 56cm), previous bike that I felt a bit cramed on and in general was a bit small for me (Wilier Cento10SL L size probably around 55cm but short wheelbase) and Scott Foil in 56cm and 58cm.
https://geometrygeeks.bike/compare/wili ... 23-xl58-1/

I am deciding between 56cm and 58cm. I would probably need 10-20mm spacers (which I don't really mind) on 56cm while I could ride 58cm slammed. I would probably use 12cm/13cm stem on 56cm and 12cm stem on 58cm (difference in reach is only 5mm between sizes).

Difference in wheelbase is 9mm. Which bike would be more stable - longer wheelbase/11cm stem or shorter wheelbase/12cm stem?

Most of the sizing calculators recommend 58cm or say I'm in between 56cm and 58cm.

I know that I should ride both sizes if possible but I find that just riding a bike in store with stock saddle, handlebars and stem just feels weird and is hardly a reference for me.

In general which bike would you reccomend for me?

Hello,

I'm in for a Colnago v4rs framekit . I know it's better to do a test ride but it's not an option at all sadly.

I'm 1m83 so according to Colnago charts it should be 530.
But my inseam is 85/86 and saddle height 76 which is spot on size 510.

I'm not the kind of guy riding super slammed handlebars.
Currently I have a SL6 Tarmac size 56 which is ok with a 135mm stem but on the small side with a 110mm stem.

Since v4rs 510 has around 1cm less reach and effective top tube i'm a bit scared that it's a bit small.

Does anyone have experience with v4rs sizing? Thanks a lot!!

I have a Rotor road axle and Rotor Vegast 30mm spindle cranks.
What other cranks are compatible with my set up? I'd like to switch to shorter cranks but not sure which I can pick from or do I have to stick to Rotor Vegast/Aldhu?
I'd just buy rotor cranks in the length you want, they come in a big range of sizes. Nothing else will be compatible with your axle. Also, which spider / chainrings are you running? You'll need to replace at least the spider too.

To move away away from Rotor cranks you'll need a new axle as well, but you can use any 30mm crankset you want in your BB. SRAM, Cybrei etc.

Am in the market for a new bike.
I compared to my current bike. Which do you think would be the better choice?
Debating a large 56 or a 54 Scott foil rc. I do require a shorter stem length due to an arm injury, but my current bike (Parlee) seems to fit pretty well. In good shape and ride mostly in the hoods.

Is your Parlee slammed?

The Parlee is slammed to the way the frame allows. The medium tall size of the frame has about an inch longer of a head tube for tall people. But the fork was cut all the way down and slammed for that. So all in all if there were to be spacers on it, it would be about an inch and a half of spacers.
