Hello,
Can anyone tell me something about the quality of these two brake disc frames:
1. Velobuild VB-R-057 - http://www.velobuild.com/2018-new-carbo ... p0107.html
It looks like a copy of the Canyon CF SLX (or it just is a copy). So I guess not really open mould. But I really like the look if it, although I can't find any reviews.
2. DengFu R10 - http://www.dengfubikes.com/ROAD_FRAME/248.html.
Contacted seller and seller says it's an open mould and not based on any other bike.
Both frames can take 28c tires and both can take Di2. The velobuild has a tapered headset. Dengfu has a straight headset.
Can any of you tell me something about these frame or any suggestions whether I should go for the Velobuild or the DengFu (or any other disc brake frame)?
Thanks for your reply!

Regarding the DengFu R10 - excuse the n00b question, but how common is a 1 1/2 - 1 1/2 straight steerer? I haven't seen that combo too much, but I could have had my head in the sand.Dutchbiker wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 6:00 pmHello,

From what I know a straight steerer is the 'old' style and these days a tapered steerer is the standard, because it has less flex.BiscuitHarrington wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 7:13 pmRegarding the DengFu R10 - excuse the n00b question, but how common is a 1 1/2 - 1 1/2 straight steerer? What common is 1 1/4 to 1 1/4 straight, isn't it?
Then bike brands enlarge the bottom to be 1 1/2 so it is stiffer. while keeping the top one at 1 1/4 (so the steerer tube size is 1/8)
Now these are straight 1 1/2 to 1 1/2... Does that imply 1 1/4 steerer tube? Then there are only few stems available in 1 1/4 size, like Pro Vibe Di2 stem which offer in both sizes.
That Dengfu R10 frame looks interesting though. A bit longer chainstay than usual (415mm) for good chainline on disc brake spacing, a bit higher stack than usual racy bike mostly because of longer fork (~2cm longer) to accomodate larger tire and also more bb drop distance than usual (72mm instead of normal 68-69mm). The more bb drop will bring rider down lower to the ground, compensate for extra height the wider tire introduces. 69mm bb drop were normal since road bike were on 19c tires, now we are riding 25c-28c which is a lot taller than 19c of old age, hence more bb drop to compensate it make sense. The frame also have tire clearance for 28c (32mm max) so it clearly design for wide tire. However, isn't that just round seatpost instead of aero seatpost we kind of expect to see from (semi?) aero frame?

And one of these for the top. For some reason they only come in pairs. Give one to a friend?

Ticks boxes for me with tyre clearance (up to 32mm) for a commuter/ just for fun sportif bike.
