How does it ride and corner compared to the Venge? I'm a crit-monkey and I'm looking for a new crit frame and right now I don't have the cash for a real Venge.
I've never ridden a venge but I own an fm098. It handles much better than my previous bikes. Especially when you're bombing downhill or just going fast in general.

Mate has a set of no-name carbon wheels. To look at not visually bad at all. However did arrive when a bent spoke.
The store (that he took the wheel in to for repair) claimed they have seen some of those generic wheels come in with huge amounts of radial in the rim. But then I would never expect a store to sing their praises and encourage people to "buy buy buy!"

It read as though the rim wasn't true without any spoke tension (meaning, you'd need uneven spoke tension to achieve a trued wheel...obviously not good).
Here's why I think that his LBS is lying/exaggerating:It's a CARBON rim. carbon may bend slightly under stress but it retains it shape, unlike metal which will keep a bent shape if the stress is too great. If the stress is too great on carbon, it breaks. You've probably seen a taco'd rim but I can say confidently that you've never seen a taco'd carbon rim.
His LBS is probably just unhappy that it loses customers to Chinese carbon wheels so they make stories up or over-exaggerate a single story to try and scare it's customers back into LBS stores.

the latest Hungfu FM 066.
i was keen on one of these but decided to upgrade som eparts on my BMC instead. what i want to know though is if the claims are correct and they pass the EN tests (as their website claims) and offer a two year warranty (like many other major builders) surely they are a legitimate frame choice.
is there specific EN tests that the likes of cannondale pass that these guys may not??

I f?&$in hope they're legitiate, as i have ordered an FM-066sl and its about 40 days away acording to Hongfu peeps....
At the end of the day, the manuf have posted avdeo of a single unit undergoing testing of sorts with an accompanying cert....
I am not nieve enought to think that the tests were not low cycle count, and that the cert could not be fake if they wanted too, or that the manuf. will not adertise any of the test units which failed within protocol cycle count...
That said I sought none of hese assurances when i purchased LOOKS, or Cannondale's or Scott's or, etc etc... and i have had those other brands products fail in use, some reaonably (stack) others less so..
So all in my take is... these producs are no less suspect than any other source, and in some regards are trying equally hard to qualify themselve sin the market place.... fair enough..
When it finally arrives i will be sure to scrutinize it thoroughly, and it'll be interesting what turns up...
As an FYI, my planet x carbon track bike (also chinese sourced and arguably from a budget provider etc) was at evens ad even exceedd my expectations... its a missile.... and the quality and ride are better than my older alu name brand trackie... its mostly this that led me to give the FM-066 a try...
I won't be labelling it, haven't really looked to see if t s particularly similar looking to anyone else's frame. I only care about how well it rides....and that i hope my current scandium hack bike holds out another month and a half... (t prbably will, its like a corolla... hatefully keeps on keeping on... )

Let me know what you think of it...I got really excited when it first came out and then a little sad because of the price (at the time Hongfu wasn't doing group buy orders to my knowledge). I really wanted one but at $850 for a no-name frame it was too much so I signed up for the FM098 group buy...I waited about a month for it to go through and a week before my order was submitted they started the group buys for this frame...
If I wasn't already looking at a 2 month wait total for the FM098 and another month for the FM066 I would've switched in a heartbeat...I just didn't think they'd have my size and BB type (would've went BB30) quick enough on top of the group buy delay for me to wait it out any longer.
TL;DR - I wanted the FM066 but ended up getting the FM098 because I wasn't willing to put up with the extended delays that the FM066 was expected to have. ...Not mentioned was that the FM098 should be a great "tri-brid" frame so that I can sell my TT bike and not be in too bad of shape on the bike parts of the couple duathlon and triathlon races I do each year.

Is there a "generic" high performance frame with more H2 or H3 geometry (trek talk). Specifically I would love something new for the end of the year with a slack seat tube, tall head tube and 580ish TT.
It would need to be stiffer than lighter for me, and of course look cool
Other wise I might just go custom Al

Where did you get that picture, anymore? The BB area looks a bit better.

Can I add to this query, as I'm in the market for the same sort of frame geometry. `Mainstream' ones I've looked at include Specialized Roubaix, Ridley (most of the road line up have tall heand-tubes), Verenti Rhigos (but would have to buy whole bike), and Pedalforce CG2. The Pedalforce is the cheapest frame only option. I would like to try a Chinese frame if one comes up with the right geometry.

One of those with the tallest headtubes would be the FM028 / FM029 frames , which do look a fair bit like a Madone. The FM029 having full internal cabling being the difference between the 2.
A 580mm TT would have a headtube of 190mm.

When I was considering purchasing I was going through a group buy on velo build. I got the pic emailed from hungfu direct.
