Multiple spacers on top of stem?

This is extremely risky, even with the longer expander: someone here might see your bike and ridicule it.

All in it seems like a pretty grey area! Thanks for the advice, I'll play it safe... Perhaps I'll ease off 5-10mm at a time, trimming the steerer each time if comfortable after a few rides. Perhaps.

Enve recommend a 5mm spacer between the stem and top cap.
