Wow. I never imagined to find a thread about Doval chainrings in weightweenies.

I live in S. Korea, and I know Doval chainring is made from a small workshop in this country.

Few of my colleagues used them, and says it is Q-rings at an affordable price.

I tried to read the relevant sites, and probably more confused.

If i tried anything, it would be the 34T inner.

Doval has 12.1% ovality and is A$45 landed.

Absolute Black (winter version) has 6.4% ovality and is A$82 landed

Q Ring (multi position) has 10% for A$85 + shipping

Doval is cheap with lots of vality, but fixed. AB is high quality, fixed but lowish ovality and Q Ring has multiple positions to faff with, but same price as AB and ovality between the two ?

:noidea:

Suggestions ?

Doval are cheap, so just try them to see if you like them (and they can also be switched around for several positions). From there, you can look further if you want to continue using oval chainrings (and buy more solidly made ones) or not.
Minimum bike categories required in the stable:
Aero bike | GC bike | GC rim bike | Climbing bike | Climbing rim bike | Classics bike | Gravel bike | TT bike | Indoors bike

Well, my 34T inner Doval ring arrived yesterday, so I'll give it a go this weekend.

Whilst the ring looks fine, the instructions are useless. After a bit of browsing, this is the best I have found so will give it a whirl

Any other advice, let me know :P

can anyone make heads or tails of the new "5G nano" version? Doesn't look oval at all.
I'm very confused.

The convoluted copy sure doesn't help.

The INSANE copy states: "this is not circular chainring", consists of three elypses, one circle, and three connections in nanometer units, total ovality= 0.54 (so basically almost circular haha WOTTT IS HE TALKING ABOUT???)

That's alot of fancy diagrams for a chainring. Somebody is putting in extra effort to sell those. Snake oil marketing comes to mind.
