Wheelsmith recommends to run Mavic Exalith or SwissStop Yellow (for carbon) pads, in order to preserve the ano layer.

What's your trick, or do you not mind grinding to the silver?

Back in the day, people would use Kool stop salmon pads that apparently have pumice in them, it speeds the wear process, bringing out the silver. Then you will get better braking overall and less chance of squealing. This was mainly done for mountain bikes, though

Mavic Exalith and Swissstop Green are same compound just different shape to the ridges. Anodising is going to wear off pretty quick whatever pad you use (Swisstop green is one of the best). If its Exolith rims then its NOT anosiding and it will last ages (mine have 2000 miles on them with no visible wear or damage)

Hi,

Kool stop salmon pads that apparently have pumice in them,

Remember that Mavic spunge-like pad to clean rims with? Same thing, pumice.

Ciao, ;)
