Looks pretty good. Please share your next attempt - curious to see how much you'd save on a nice light pad holder.
Couldn't you replicate the cut out on the opposite side of the mounting bolt? And ditch the unnecessary hardware!

Did cut the weight in half here but without the pad holder bolts... which i think i dont need. If i put the brake pad in right when i brake i just tighten it on.

Yes i think if i drill those 2 holes a bit bigger and then dremel it out again i’ll be saving some 2 grams over the 4 pads. I’m still going to try this but i think i will lose some strength of the brake shoe.

It works really nicely, Xpedo XPR cleats with chopped off sides so I could use the threads, two titanium bolts drilled from inside and flushed with the outer side of the cleat for a flat surface to glue the rubber on top.
Setup is paired with a set of XPedo R-force pedals.

Here is a cheap pedal mod I did. Bought a cheap SPD pedals for my road bike, same as the ones I have been using on my MTB without any issues (I prefer SPD even for my road bike). Stock at 260 gram.
Converted to one sided by simply unscrewing one side of the clipping mechanism then filed away as much of the remaining alloy...30 minutes work...and achieved 216 gram...cheapest weight saving I have done.

408g (cassette plus RD) to shift 433.33% range. 3T 11sp bailout cassette with added homemade 39t cog. RD is a Road Sram Red short cage modified to 'Type 3' style with also custom hanger to place the pulleys in space properly. In the shifter I made a 3D printed ring clutch with the extra tooth for 12sp, (future proof with 13sp actually....but I wouldn't have the space on my wheel!

I'll be doing some official photos of the entire bike, but I can tell that is simpler than expected, its just a 30mm bridge (hole to hole) , and its a 3 mm thick carbon plate, extending from the original upper pulley pivot, and the original inner cage is simply transfered to attach on the new position. I've been trying to use a Red short cage with a 39T for a while now, I think this time I nailed it, the key is on the new derailleur hanger repositioning the RD to the right place to give a proper chain wrap and a stronger tension for the chain at the smallest cog.
