@andreszucs how's the largest cog shifting? Did you just bolt it onto the cassette spider? How do you index the RD to 12s?

I'm so happy that its working! perfectly actually, I even made the ramps to help out with catching the chain from the 32t cog. Yes I've created 6 holes with M5 thread (tapping tool) on the 32T cog from the 3T cassette, not on the spider, but right under the teeth, and it needs to be a countersunk bolt coming from behind the new 39T cog, perfectly flushed with the surface since the space is tight with the spokes. RD moves enough to cover the 12th step, and the ring with the extra tooth added was installed on the shifter.

408g (cassette plus RD) to shift 433.33% range. 3T 11sp bailout cassette with added homemade 39t cog.

Wow that is amazing. One thing I would say (yes, a nit needing to be picked) but I thought the shift housing links were supposed to be oriented in the opposite direction. :smartass:

An update on my frames. I'm up to frame number three. Just minor changes in geometry and improvement in fabrication techniques.

I used a dremel tool to shave some weight off the shifters. But mostly I think it looks cool! :)

Reinforced with Titanium sleeve and thick wall at the mounting area, epoxy glued to round tube with the frame. Image

What was your reasoning behind using hexagonal tubing?

Just had it on my shelf from another project from a few years ago, remembered how light the tube is so I gave it a shot as a seatpost. Didn’t brake doing testing on my driveway, let’s see overtime!

I'm not sure if this can be called tuning. I changed the electrical tape that held my shifter and brake housings in place on the handlebar for cable ties.

The electrical tape weighed 1,5 grams and the cable ties came in at 0,4 grams.

The cable ties have the added benefit of not leaving glue residue and not slowly unravelling. :)

When you say ‘Dre’, You meant me? Image. Totally missed the message. If you are indeed asking about my Rear derailleur from my prior post, I actually have another modification to share these days. The whole point about making that homemade carbon 39 cog was to add range, but with small steps using the 3T cassette, well, the Ekar cassette does just that, so I went for it....but my way! check it out.

It's just not weightweenie anymore, 619g total (393g cassette plus 226g XX1 RD) to shift 466.66% range. (my custon 3t cassette with added cog + Sram Red short cage RD was 408g to shift 433.33%)

9-42 13sp Campy Ekar
Wirelessly shifting with Xshifter
SRAM XX1 Rd
SRAM AXS flat top chain

Flawless experience!
