I'll be going with
6770 wires for the cockpit/front Di2 mech battery wire and RS910 e-tube di2 junction A charging port.
If this means you'll use SM-EW67A-E AND the EW-RS910 junction on the same bike... you can't (only one Junction A allowed per bike).
Other than that there is no difference between 6770-wires and any other current Di2 wire, they're all EW-SD50 wires
(Just don't buy EW-SD300 by accident
)
I apologize for the elementary questions. This is my first foray into Di2 and its inner workings. I pretty much dismissed the possibility due to the exuberant cost until I came across a great deal for 6770 Di2 levers. That got me thinking maybe I can put it together for roughly the same cost of running a mechanical groupset.
From my research, I see post-2014 a 6870 front and rear derailleur are both required to allow 6770 levers to work with an 11-speed cassette. With that in mind, I priced out the cost for a complete build...
$103 Di2 6770 levers
$120 Di2 6870 front mech(lightly used, unable to locate new) $210 R8050 Di2 front mech
$161 Di2 6870 rear mech $250 R8050 Di2 rear mech
$24 EW-SD50 wire kit
$131 EW-RS-910 E-Tube Di2 Junction A (2 Port)
$85 3 Port SM-EW 90 Junction A (5 Port $105)
$130 Di2 SM-BCR2 charger (Non-series $110)
$160 BT-DN110 Di2 battery
Just a couple of questions so I get this right...
The SD50 wire kit, is that for connecting the levers to the Junction box? How many do I need?
What's the difference between 3 port vs 5 port SM-EW90 Junction? I do prefer the cleaner/hidden look of the EW RS 910 E-tube, what do you recommend?
Do I need a wire kit to hook up the front and rear mech in the seat tube? Does the BT-DN110 Di2 battery come with a sleeve to hold it securely in the seat post?
Being that a new 6870 Di2 front mech is unavailable, is it worth the cost to spend a little more for R8050 Di2 mech front and rear?
Where do I get the firmware to make it work, can you download it online for free or have to purchase it?
