Weight Weenies

Im switching from dura ace to campagnolo, I have a dilema with the wheels:
Buy a campagnolo cassette body for my ksyrium SSC SL or build up this wheelset: Spada hubs, AC 350 g rims, sapim spokes.

You cant use the Spadas with original Campa Cassettes, but the freehubbody is long enough for marchisio or Tiso or similar Cassettes with the profil of Shimano freehubs and made for Campa 10speed. I use Kocmo (www.kocmo.de) titanium sprockets , thickness 1.6mm with 2,56mm spacer on my Stilettos and it works. The weight of the 12-28 10speed cogset is 190g

If you have the cash, get the custom spada wheels. but you can get a mavic freehub body for 25 buck, i just sold a shimano on ebay. it didnt last 2 hours it was sold almost instantly.

the spadas come with 28 holes max. so you should think about the AC CR-350 rim with 28 spokes (175lb limit). 32 spokes is rated for 200lbs but you would have to look for another hub.

I have also thought of AC and heylight hubs, good price and lightness!

i do not know anything about heylight hubs. but take a look at frm, i think they come in 32 hole.

I weight 160 lb so 28 holes won't be a problem i think.

yep, i think you would be good. i guess your on your way to 1200 g clinchers that are suitable for everyday use

Thats the aim but I don't think I can make 1200g maybe 1300-1350.
hubs: Heylight 260 g
Ac rims +- 700 g
cx-ray spokes 280-300 g

1260 g, but then I expect the tipycal weight increase due to variations in rim and hubs weight so 1300g would be more realistic.

www.pezcyclingnews.com has them at 1324g the rear spada rear hub is 41 grams lighter than the American classic rear hub. so i think its safe to say you can have a sub 1300g (1283) everyday clincher, which is not bad at all.

Drive side on the stella spada hub uses shorter spokes, plus your gonna have 4 less spokes than the standard build. i do not think your gonna reach 1300 grams EVER at least not with that combo.

i think you guys are overlooking one thing here. those 350 rims are not available for individual sale... check ac's website... it's there in writing

I contacted the spanish distributor and they told me they are sold individually.

I heard there is a new Spada hub due out at the end of January with a Campy compatible body so you can use original Campy cassettes.

I was told the CR-350/Spada 28h rear with CX-Ray spokes is rated to 200lbs.

If you buy the Spada you aren't going to want to use the Mavic anymore in any case

Well at my winter weight of 190lbs they suit me fine.

If I had been worried about it I would have just gone for the normal Stiletto, for an extra 40g per rim.
