Smooth surface is a fast surface :)

Not sure that is true. Witness dimpled Carbon and "aero" paint. (which has a less than smooth surface)

The Zipp Zuka Sprint drop bar is already out and similarly shaped. Not sure what kind of time savings they are claiming for their version. 23 seconds over 40km seems a lot just for that one section of drop bar (with that said, I have some Zuka Sprints on order since I really like a flat bar section on the tops, and whatever miniscule aero advantage that comes with that, I welcome).

For the big (non-UCI) TTT last weekend I brought out the works:

Lycra shoe covers
Taped helmet holes
Cronosuit
60mm rims

It didn't help. I froze to death in the wind and the rain and had to let the team go 40 km from home.

You can't take all of the individual upgrade parts individually, add the time saved together and come up with a new number. It doesn't work that way.

Starting to think a beer belly might be more aero. Semi Kamm-tail airfoil? If you can overcome the power to kilo ratio.

The manufacturer's would have you believe you can.

Clearly the poster knows, but I assume he wants to add all these ridiculous claims and see if we can do the 40 km in 30 minutes ^^.

I agree that it's a funny game

So I'll do a Louis Garneau Vorticce Black Knight Helmet (how cool can you name a product!). According to http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/featur ... lmet.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; studies show time savings that range from as little as 30 seconds to as much as 2 minutes over 25 miles (40 kilometers, an Olympic triathlon bike distance). So let's say on average one minute, 15 seconds over 40 km.

Thanks to Bontrager's aero research...... when I shave my legs I always ensure I leave a 5mm strip of mohawk like stubbly leg hair on the rearmost aspect of my calves and knee, furthermore I make sure this "Hairmm" tail is parallel to the vertical plane of the bike when I am sat on it by checking with a laser :hmm:

I calculated this saves me 0.2371w @ 50kph over my Ironman of 180km, of course I'm not so sure how much time I spend at 50kph in my 6hr IM bike split as it's tough to glance at my Garmin 800 what with all the sitting up to drink and stretching my back ya know.... :noidea:

Of course I'd post a photo but my camera, iphone and macbook isight are all out of battery

I am currently not riding but instead focusing on getting bigger triceps so my arms match the uci approved 3:1 length:frontal area ratio. i am also exploring whether a moustache like dave zabriskies has a NACA duct effect on channelling airflow into nostril.

My biggest regret is not having bad acne, as i think pockmarks would act like zipps dimples.

I'm going to buy some Cinelli Spinaci handlebars. For $20 I think they'd have the best $/drag ratio available.

Of course there is Ridleys Noah with the airfoil fork and seatstays. Just ignore the weight and the odd failure.

So why does not Fast Phil's pockmarks work this year?

You could tape something like the cardboard toblerone tubes to the backs of your legs and arms
