One of my wheelsets have fat spokes and they are wider than the CX-rays, they make a loud air whipping sound when you ride it.

Does that mean it is less effecient?

here is a pic

had gone to 45mph and almost a machine like sound.. could be the amplification of the carbon rim.

Mavics have bigger spokes than this, and wonder what you guys have heard..

I get a similar noise on my AC 420 Aero 3 which has rather thick-looking bladed spokes.

It's the fabric of the space-time continuum starting to rip. Haven't you ever seen Back To The Future?

PC, the photo does not show the complete spoke lenghts.
Have you trued your wheels recently and are one or some of your spokes twisted towards the nipple head?Means not sitting in the correct direction to the wind with the sharp edges ? :noidea:

Hi,

Does that mean it is less effecient?

Absolutely.

As someone else already suggested, have you checked to see if the spokes are correctly orientated ?

Ciao, ;)

The Spinergy Rev-X used to make the coolest sound at speed. Sounded like a Vietnam war reenactment with the Huey gunships coming over the horizon. All I needed was the "Ride of the Valkyries" soundtrack.
