Weight Weenies

I am looking for a front hub 20H that is black to go with powertap.
Wheel builder offers DT240s, Alchemy ELF, I am not too excited about the choices.

Should I buy a BHS hub because I think they roll nice and work fine, even though it is not as pricey.

How much do you weigh and what sort of roads and riding do you do?

Elf is pretty damn light and builds a stiff wheel. It will be far more durable than a BHS hub.

My feeling is for front hubs the differences in quality and durability are much smaller that for rear, so you might as well have an eye on your budget.

The bearings in the Bitex front hub are tiny and will not last very long.
The bearings don't appear to be too well shielded either.
I have a couple lying about the place and I can't bring myself to building wheels with them for these reasons.
(I like the rear hubs just fine)

I am 160 lbs. I plan to build this 20 front zipp 101 wheel, but if I can't make up my mind, I will just buy the 18 front zipp factory wheel. At least the bearings are very good on the zipp hub, and it looks nice too, 2 year warranty, and the price is actually the same.

Since the Zipp 101 rim is heavy 2 less spokes shouldn't be a problem.

I don't have any problems with the bitex front hubs.. and I have also been riding on my Boyd wheels which I think is the same hub.

please get yourself a Tune front hub. The one I have performs great. they need to be broken in a bit, but after that they just keep un spinning.

Get the ELF. Nice and light, durable for me, and has good flange geo for a laterally stiff wheel. (No softness when climbing out of the saddle.)

At least in my experience, flanges on Tune hubs have been quite sturdy through at least the last couple generations.

You should be Ok with the ELF or Tune MIg 70....I personally ride the MIg 70 and weight 190 lbs on a ENVE 45 20H with no problems
