I liked the continentals as well. The michelins wore too quickly.

I like the Vitt open pave a little more than the gp 4000s. They nick up easier than the Contis, but they're way more supple, and look cooler with the green stripe 8). I don't think they'll last as long as my gp 4000s, but they're cheaper at my lbs. Next on my list will be Conti Attack/Force.

I am going to have to be the odd one here and say Maxxis Re-Fuse in 25mm.

That being said, I have been riding Open Corsa Evo CX around because they just feel so damn good.

Best all rounder: GP4000S

Best value at the moment: Michelin Pro 3 Race (while stocks last)

Honourable mention: Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX (but I think they handle greasy/wet conditions less well than the 2 above)

Best All Around Racing Clincher Tire?

Sold my road tubulars to re-build my beloved Reynolds DV46 clinchers and pocket some of the extra cash. They have fresh hubs and spokes as the Cane Creek hubs that were on them had seen better days and are no longer produced for any replacement parts. They were a set of Jittery Joes pro team wheels I picked up at the T-town swap a few years ago and are still in great shape. I haven't ridden a set of tubulars that I liked as much as the Reynolds clinchers.

My question, can anyone recommend the best "bang for your buck" all around racing clincher? I haven't bought high end clinchers in a long time I'm not really sure what's out there anymore and how everything holds up under weekly racing in all kinds of conditions.

GP4000 is the best according to Tour. It's main stream booring but it just delivers in every way. If you want ultralight but with comparable puncture resistance get the GP TT version, but it won't last that long.

This has the potential to become another epic tire thread... :)

My 2 cents:

Best allround clincher:
Continental GP4000S or Attack/Force. Excel in all areas, unbeatable in the wet, lightweight, very puncture resistant but not the most supple ride

Best good weather clincher:
Veloflex Master/Carbon. Lightweight, super supple, so-so puncture resistance but unfortunately a real pain as soon as the road gets damp.

For $40'ish dollars, I can't see how you would top a Veloflex Corsa for a racing clincher.
