I don't think it's that bad. Trek has had some unfortunate colorways in the last few years, but this isn't bad. (I know there is someone in this thread to despiiiiises it, perhaps because they don't like Lidl as a business, but that's, like, his opinon, maaan.)

I like the team colours, but I also live somewhere without Lidls.

It was mostly curiosity. $99 for the bottle/cage set, $24 for bottle only. Cage weighs 40g, bottle is 99g for ~600mL (compared to 79g for 750mL Purist bottle).
Here they are mounted on my Cannondale SuperSix.
They actually fit pretty nicely. Could definitely see how they would be more aero. There's one issue. The front derailleur bolt is in the way slightly, pushing the cage a little off to the left. Could easily be fixed by filing the cage down like 1-2mm. Or maybe a smaller bolt.
But overall they seem pretty good. I did a little spin around my block and they're easy to get in and out. Actually a lot easier than I expected for the design. They're smaller than I usually use. Most rides I use 1L bottles so they wouldn't replace those by any means. Races I usually switch to 750s so I'm losing a little bit of fluids but for crits these could definitely work just fine. I'm curious whether running 2 bottles would be faster than a single one. Even just an empty one. They are pricey. $200 for the set of 2 bottles and cages, plus another $24 for extra bottles.
Could you measure exactly how wide (mm) this trek bottle is? I would be interested in whether it would fit my cube frame.
What is your experience with noise?

ordered up an SLR 8 with Red D1.
Why is there so much hate for the 51 Pro wheels? Weight?
I have some 2.3s that I can toss on for windy/climby days. Hoping that those wheels would get the bike into the 7.1kg range.

What colour did you go for? Looking forward to seeing a pic of two and final weight.LedZeppelin007 wrote:ordered up an SLR 8 with Red D1.

Got the team color because I like it. Trust me, I will document it thoroughly once I get it.

Anybody put on 13-speed XPLR on a Madone yet? Might be going to HI over the holidays and might bring my bike and MIGHT be tempted by Mauna Kea, but would need 32c gravel tires and probably 34t/10-46t gearing.

Interesting. I saw that one of the YouTube channels used the 5dev UDH converter and put XPLR 13speed on an SL8 which also has 410mm chain stays.de lars cuevas wrote:Won't work, sorry. Madone has 410 mm chainstays, and Xplr needs at least 415...

This is incorrect. XPLR can be used on 410mm chainstays, the only difference is the recommendation changes to normal DUB cranks vs wide ones.

I stand corrected. 405 to 415 mm with standard cranks indeed. Original post marked for deletion. Thanks.
Side note on 1x13 for road: I ride a Cervelo Caledonia with Ekar 1x13, 9-36 cassette. 400% bandwith, which is about the same as my old 2x11 Ultegra. The ratio steps are bigger than with 2x11, which is to be expected. But it's okay for me. A 10-46 cassette will give you quite big ratio steps for road use.
Furthermore, the Ekar cassette is narrower than Red 13, and my chainstays are 415mm. The chain is allready quite "crossed" on the extreme gears. With the Red 13 cassette extending both more inwards and outwards, this will be even worse, especially with even shorter stays, right?

I've bought a xplr 13v for my gravel bike but tested first on the madone with the standard red e1 cranks and a 48t front ring.
It works fine but the cross chain is too extreme on the 46t for my taste, feels very ineficient and noisy, also backpedal on the 46t makes the chain jumps to the small cog. The same whe mounted on a canyon grail.
Speed and shift quality its on pair or slightly better than the standard red e1 derailleur, but overall, the standard e1 feels smoother for a road bike because of the cross chain.
