Ive developed a problem with my FD. Before taking it to a bike shop I thought I would see if someone can help me out.
My Ultegra DI2 12 speed FD sometimes interminently wont shif onto the big ring. I have maxed out the outward play on both the small and large front trim setting, with the chain 0.5mm from the cage.
It will shift fine in all gears one minute.... then it will all of a sudden not go into the large ring.... takes some jumping through some gears to get it to shift.
Its on a 2023 SL7 with 5,000km.
The FD has been set up for height, appears parralel with the chainrings and is 0.5mm off the inner cage when in both the Big and small and front chainring, and largest on the rear. The outrward trim is maxed out on the FD.

Had the same problem on two bikes. Don't have it parallel. Screw the yaw adjustment in to jack the tail out a bit. See if that helps.
Even if you're not gonna to that, Be sure that screw is engaged, even if parallel. It needs the stiffness from that screw.

Yep that fixed it!! Tightened it up and that has fixed it!

Glad to hear it is fixed but is this a Shimano Ultegra R8000 Front Derailleur? If so, did you make sure that the little adhesive backed front derailleur support bolt plate is still in place or did you possibly just thread the yaw adjustment screen into the seat tube?

yeah that support plate is crucial to getting a fine tuned di2 FD setup properly. The first red flag that the plate is missing is being on the extremes of the indexing alignments. With a proper setup and everything installed you shouldn't need to be more then 5mm off center for FD on either the low or high side.
You only really need the plate if the 'Support bolt' touches the frame (seat post).

Good that the OP got the help they needed however just as a general comment, why doesn't anybody read the Shimano manuals and instructions ? All of this is readily available in the dealer's manuals on the Shimano site. I am the bike mechanic for our cycling club, and spend half my time correcting bad installs because riders or bike shop mechanics can't be bothered to read and follow manuals.

Wish I had been that lucky. Since Shimano introduced the 9100/8000 series, I have installed either FD-R9150 or FD-R8050 Fds on Giant TCRs, KTM Sky, Ridley X-Night, Scott Solace/Contessa Solace, and most recently Colnago C64. All of these frames required use of the adhesive plate as the braze-on derailleur mounts did not provide an adequate foot print and the support bolt would have been threading into a carbon seat tube. Even if the frames had been steel or Ti frame, I would still use the backing plate to avoid damage to the frame tube.
