I was thinking about making new holes in the mount that came with the Avianhandlebar to make it lighter.
Do you use the lower mount? I got rid of my avain mount right away. Seemed utterly bizarre that an aero bar would ship with a mount for a go pro or light along with computer.

If you are a go pro or front light type person just get a separate bar and stem, more adjustable and easier to maintain.
An easy fix with two small locking nuts.

I did find one problem with the two nuts on the handlebar. See the second pic. The front nut is on the curved part of the handlebar. So the two nuts aren’t on the same plane. When you tighten the screws the mount is bent. So I had to add a small washer to the front nut so that the two nuts end up more or less on the same plane.

With the two fixes that I did I find the mount to be light and sturdy. And it looks quite nice. Not sure if the mount is sturdy enough for my 1030 Plus and a GoPro. It’s sturdy enough for just the 1030 Plus.

I considered that but it those protruding nuts right in the wind did not appeal.

Those nuts are smaller than the supplied Ti bolts (which I ended up replacing with some very low profile Ti water bottle mounting bolts). I don’t like the color of the nuts but I can’t see them so it’s OK.

The handlebar looks a little bit rough in the pictures I posted earlier. Especially the finishing on the entry ports. Nevertheless it built up very nicely.
Very interesting, received the Canary in 360x130 recently from Ali too, inside they look much better than in your pics, but are 14g heavier (260g vs 246).
Would you mind linking the Alix store you purchased from? There are a few. I’m after the same size, and if I can get them from the same production batch I’d be a happy bunny.

Whatever happened, these are of course crappy handlebars from a crappy company, marketed with shady practices.
well... they weight 70g less than similar size integrated handlebars from Spesh or other brands? i guess it means less durability

They have to compete on something that is not price (you can get crap barstems from Ali for like 80 bucks, but those will be heavy in addition to poor QC).
So they compete on weight. This does mean less durability, but they also don’t face the same business reputation risks as Spesh, so they take it.

Products from mainstream Western brands are usually overbuilt (although this doesn’t apply to hookless wheels lol), these premium Chinese product are probably close to the limit of what is possible with the current manufacturing methods. You accept this risk when purchasing those products, and everyone has different levels of risk tolerance.

I’d happily pay more for something like Roval Alpinist if they had something like 130/360, but none of Western brands will offer anything narrower than 400 with a 130mm stem. IIRC Spesh only do 130 length with 420 and 440 widths.

It for sure means more flex.

I hate to be pedantic but the word you're looking for here is "reliability", not "durability". "Durable" implies resistance to wear from use, and handlebars (especially carbon bars) should not wear/fatigue from use.

The distinction is important, because "durability" implies that the handlebars can be safely used as long as one doesn't use them "too much", when it is actually the case that if the handlebars are not "reliable" under normal riding conditions, then they are unsafe to use/liable to fail at any time.

I agree it is scandalous and bizarre that they ship it with this go pro ride! This could cost u 10th place on your old boy club ride! Good u got rid of it. Nothing slowing us down!
I think someone should talk with the brand manager, things like that should not happen.

If you don't care about small speed increases, why on earth would you buy this handlebar? Unless you are harvesting likes on Facebook and Instagram for your little toy maybe?

Cheap (for a new build) and easier to carry!

I don't like the mount though. I'd like an avian canary equivalent bike computer mount.

Yea, nobody in their right mind would want an aero handlebar AND a GoPro mount, that's like half a watt of aero savings. It's not like anybody records video from races. I mean, it's obvious all the YouTube race footage is coming from guys using round bars. No REAL racer would sacrifice all those sweet aero gains to mount a GoPro. They really need a warning that GoPros are not allowed on aero bars.

My light hangs off a gopro mount. It is always there.
More chance of being spotted when our drivers glance up from their phones.
