Anyone had one now, think it's worth it for them over a 1040 or 840? I'm torn between all of them 840, 1040, 1050. Just a hobby cyclist with some money to maybe burn... The usual!!!

Unless you're a data junkie then just get the 840.

DC Rainmaker said Garmin is committed to keeping the 1040/840 series at feature parity with the 1050/850 series where hardware is not the limiter. So given they will have comparable features for the foreseeable future, it really is a choice between significantly more battery (x40 series) or a brighter screen and a bell (x50 series).

Thanks both, my next question is - Is the 840 or 1040 laggy with the 1050 extras on it? It would bug me if it behaves like iPhone updates!

Right now the software including the 1050 features for the 1040 series is in beta, and some have reported lag issues, so we won't know until the beta ends and the public release.

Please bring back support for Varia Vision 😭 am I the only one who cares about this?
I too would love someone to support that. Even if it's someone other than Garmin. I now use a 820 just for the Vision and an 840 on the handlebar.

The reverse trick didn't work for me. On my Specialized SL7 stem with the K-Edge out front mount, my 1040 fits in the normal way and in the reverse way, however the 1050 doesn't fit. I'll need a new out front mount.

Just got my 1050 and can confirm it doesn’t not fit the Roval Rapide Cockpit bars with MagCad mount sigh. I just emailed Andrew at MagCad to see if he can expedite designing an updated mount.

A tried a friend's yesterday. The upside down trick with the 1040 doesn't work because that fitted all my bikes and the 1050 didn't fit on 3 of the 4. I don't know what they were thinking because there's no way I'll be buying 3 new mounts.

You're welcome. Mount is Roval branded, here are some pics, clearance is OK so should be able to access the buttons easily:

Did you then also try it with the 1050?
Did it work?

Yes the 1050 works with the Roval Rapide integrated cockpit stock mount and the K-Edge mount for Roval cockpits.

I was stupid enough to put my 1030plus through the wash when I left it in the jersey pocket when it came in for charge.
Came out nice and clean and still works fine.
Sticking with it for a while. :)

For those who may find this helpful, there are no issues with fitting an Edge 1050 to an EXS Aerover handlebar using the stock mount.
