I'm using the 48/33t Stone chainring but in the 5x110 variant. I paired it with a 11-36t cassette. I'm using this combo in preparation for an event with 6800m climbing to give my legs a super easy gear to spin on. Compared to my previous 50/34 + 11-34 combo, my cadence is noticeably quicker and I can keep my power lower while climbing at 12-15% without grinding at 40rpm. Not only that but the 33+32 combo is almost the same as my previous 34+34 and I still have a bail out gear at 33+36. I do find myself shifting the rear a lot more and I can stay in the 48T longer. But on flat and downhills, I'm almost always on the smaller cogs in rear which isn't so efficient.
Shifting is not as crisp at the front compared to my Praxis chainrings but it works fine. I do miss the ultra smooth rear shifting of the DA 11-34 cassette. Also the Stone rings are a bit louder as well.
Useful info re the chainrings - thanks. What 11-36 cassette are you using? 105 or something else?iamraymond wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 4:11 pmShifting is not as crisp at the front compared to my Praxis chainrings but it works fine. I do miss the ultra smooth rear shifting of the DA 11-34 cassette.
Can't you just program your one good button to "next" shifting -it took Shimano 20 years to realise you don't need 2 buttons when there's only 1 option?

I bought the 105 level cassette (CS-HG710), but I'm using it as a hybrid 105/DA. I'm using the 5 largest cogs (21-24-28-32-36T) of the 105 cassette paired with the smaller cogs (11-12-13-14-15-17-19) of the DA 11-34. The small cogs are the same between the 105 and DA, but with different materials.satanas wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 11:05 amUseful info re the chainrings - thanks. Your best bet is to find a good price (all over the internet depending on your country) 11 speed Ultegra or Dura-Ace set. The last generation pure mechanical for both of those groupsets are basically the best a mechanical groupset can ever be.charirider wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 2:21 pmWill there be 12s mechanical 105 for RIM BRAKES? (Basicaly, 12s mechanical rim brakes STIs)?
And you won't miss the 12th sprocket, I promise.

I searched far and wide for a 12 speed HG cassette larger than 34t. Only thing I could find was the 105 11-36t or the Rotor 11-36t or 11-39t. Even the Chinese brands haven't produced them yet.
The Rotor cassettes could be an option, but I didn't find many reviews and I wasn't going to spend 300EU on a short-term experiment.

I am already on DA 9100 shifters, brake calipers and Ultegra RX rear derailleur. Bought new and used for less than 2000miles so almost new.vadimivich wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 9:58 amYour best bet is to find a good price (all over the internet depending on your country) 11 speed Ultegra or Dura-Ace set. Yes, they are flawless. Throw of gear lever and braking is so light and smooth, couldn't desire more.
That being said, riding 1x I, wanted more gears to smoothen the gaps between cogs. And a 36t max cog instead of 34t on current Ultegra-level cassette.
But I think I will use this last DA mechanical till the end... might stock up 1 more set of levers and RD... calipers, being the same as 9200 series, would be available for next couple of years, I presume.

11 speed Ultegra/Dura-Ace parts for a good price is literally a pure unobtainium in Europe. Everyone selling beaten up set of Ultegra shifters for 240-250 euros when brand new ones are 280.vadimivich wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 9:58 amYour best bet is to find a good price (all over the internet depending on your country) 11 speed Ultegra or Dura-Ace set. There's also the issue with 11 speed cranks above 105 being a ticking time bomb
did you ever find the specs on this free stroke adjustment screw/bolt? Looking for the same...cleanneon98 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 11:53 am99.9% sure this will work but anyone know if DA hood covers fit on Ultegra?
