I actually rather like the look of the groupset on that De Rosa. The bike as a whole is a bit 'busy' for me, though.

Don't suppose anyone has any new/rumours on below SR level offerings?

Why we need to pay $$$$$ for European built groupsets:

If I had paid top dollar for DA I would be ashamed.
There are plenty of slave labor tier factories even in Europe. Usually relying largely on (illegally) imported workforce from third world countries that don't know their rights and are too scared to go to the authorities. Italy especially being well known for it, but they're not the only ones to do it. Others in Europe just haven't gotten that much bad international press because there haven't been big exposures that concern big multinational brands.

I would hope Campy being a family owned business doesn't indulge in these practices for the sake of boosting shareholder returns. Besides if I understand correctly the majority of Campy manufacturing isn't outsourced.

Unless you know otherwise.

Why? Dura Ace is made in Japan.

My understanding is that they are privately owned. Of course, I'm probably wrong and someone will correct me.

Privately owned means it's owned by a private group of shareholders - and in this case it's the Campagnolo family, or at the very least they're the majority shareholders within the privately owned company.

The average man on the street doesn't know, or care where DA and XTR are made, all they will see when looking at your bike is that you are supporting a large corporation which is profiting from peoples' mystery.

I would be overly pissed-off if I had paid for premium DA branding as it's an expensive product and the badge has just been tarnished by corporate greed.

The average man on the street doesn't give a shit where stuff is made as long as it's cheap.

The average man on the street ain't buying a $5k groupset for their bicycle.

I suspect at this price point the provenance matters more than in the lower price tiers.

Value for money ceases to really be a consideration as the value to performance sweetspot is surpassed well south of Chorus (if that existed in the Campagnolo range anymore!).

There are literally thousands of 'ethical' brands which exist only because people do care where and how stuff is made. There have been scandals when firms which serve the average man, like Nike, were found to be making products in sweat shops and with child labour.

Look, if this type of stuff doesn't matter to you then fine, but a lot of people I ride with demand ethical products, including clothing, sports goods and coffee. I don't see why bike groupsets should be any different.

As I said, shame on Shimano, they should learn from this and improve their supply chain.

I think discussing Shimano's supply chain in this thread is OT, but I've said before that 'made in Italy' has cachet and value to a number of customers, and that diversifying between components made in and around Vicenza, and those made in the far east, might well be a viable strategy for Campagnolo.
