2023 new Tarmac SL8 rumor
Moderator: robbosmans
You’re right. They are money first. They’ll make and market products that sell. Including sizes. I’m sure they ran the numbers about the costs vs estimated sales.cajer wrote:Just becuase they have the data doesn't mean they are doing anything with it. Remember the aero is everything era from spesh? Now they don't even have an aero road bike nor a competitive TT bike. This is not a company that is engineering or data first.

Just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it a gimmick. More and more pros are doing it every race. It’s a big enough difference to measure outdoors with the Chung Method. As long as you’re remotely fit and and can hold the position, horns/hoods turned in is faster.

Agreed. They had a real opportunity here to produce an "affordable" light, stiff and really aero one piece. Narrow at the hoods with a decent flare to the drops would have put them head and shoulders above the competition. Instead they've joined the ranks of Deda, Vision etc with a decent but not amazing product. Bummer really.TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 5:31 am

While I was tempted by your information they refuse to ship outside UK. Thanks though, I guess I will hold out for the 115x380.Feener wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 6:41 pmThere are still 120x400 in uk stores. If that is where you are. I was contemplating sucking it up and getting a 120x400 vs the 115x380 I wanted and I blinked and that was gone too, lol.cajer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 8:09 amNew bars dropped.

They're not pricing it to sell the first drop only though, are they? They're pricing it to continue selling across the lifespan of the product, after the shiny brand new bling effect has worn off.pmprego wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 3:13 pmAt the speed they sold out... Price was low. Would they have placed it a quarter higher, would they have not sold out? Don't know.robeambro wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 2:31 pmor maybe it indicated another thing and another thing only: they only had very limited quantities.pmprego wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 12:32 pmThis indicates one thing and one thing only: the price is low. That's why there are discounts. But if products are sold out, that is a sign of a NOT overpriced product.Karvalo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 8:47 pmThey're not pricing it to sell the first drop only though, are they? Who even sells something like that? The enve ses handlebar is so bloody expensive, but there is nothing else out there that is aero shaped and has similar dimensions is there?Kurt1980 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 9:10 amAgreed. Agree, this could have been a real win for specialised but as it is I am not particularly interested.

The black Inc does look good but less flare than the enve and significantly more cost than the specialized.
If the specialized had a decent amount of flare then I wouldn't even be considering the exs aerover.

Enve-esque geometry, but possibly questionable source

Significantly more flare than enve. An extra 2cm, and like you say, questionable source.
