12s Hydro levers or 12s rim brake levers? They couldn't make the hydro levers work because there's no bluetooth receivers in the 9100 derailleurs.

If I'm upgrading from mechanical ultegra r8020, to new ultegra r8170 and already have compatible cranks/rings (rotor aldhu), do I just need shifters, chain, derailleurs, and cassette? Will the disc brakes be fine on the new shifters? Obviously I'll need the new battery/wires as well. Anything else I'm missing?
If you mean disc brake calipers from old 11 s groupsets, NO, they are not compatible.
So again.

I have both.
The best "upgrade" of 11s vs 12s Ultegra is the brake calipers. Better clearance, less anoying rubbing sound. 12 speed calipers work with 11 speed levers, so you can just upgrade those for a much reduced cost vs full groupset upgrade (did that on my 11s setup).
The rest are very small improvements (and some tradeoffs), not worth the money (in my opinion) if you're happy with your current setup.

This is probably the biggest dissapointment for a lot of us as it precludes us from using our existing 11 cranks with expensive power meters/arms.
Is anyone using their 11 cranks with 12 sp Di2 successfully without issue?
It works, but not as well as it should. I used 9100 cranks with 12s DA Di2 for most of a season and got crisp front shifts maybe half the time after pushing the FD high limit far out beyond the 0.5-1mm spec. The rest either hesitated or had a bit of grinding before completing the shift. I found the smoothest way with that combo was to softpedal during the shift, like the old days. Of course, if you've spent $$$ on a 11s PM crankset, such compromises are not really acceptable.BikeEatSleepRepeat wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 5:26 pmThis is probably the biggest dissapointment for a lot of us as it precludes us from using our existing 11 cranks with expensive power meters/arms.

What about the effects on chainline, if any?
When I'm riding 50t chainrings on 12s I seem to be in the 9th or 10th cogs of the cassette if pushing on and that is quite a skewed chainline. I wouldn't want to make it any less efficient with 11s chainrings.
