Since we're at the topic of steerer design. Does the regular Teammachine SLR (The non-01, non-integrated/hidden cables version) have the same foam in the rectangular steerer tube, or does that one have a regular round tube with a standard aluminium expander in it ?

Yes, round steerer tube and standard expander.

I guess that answers one of my questions... it sounds like you can't fully internalize a standard Teammachine, right?

Any had experience changing the thru axles on the team machine to J&L or other after market brands?

Just had my SLR01 frameset delivered, size 58 in the silver colourway. A little bit heavier than I expected...

Frame 1055g (hardware removed)
Fork 410g
Seatpost 208g

I'm hoping it's my scales that are out. Will report back when it's built up.

Not without changing the fork. I’ve seen previous generation SLR02s converted to internal routing by using the SLR01 fork.
