Sorry if this is off topic! I am going to France in July to ride the Alpe D'Huez Etape Du Tour. It is not possible for me to bring my own bike on this trip. Can anyone recommend a source to rent a high end road bike in this region of France?

Many thanks!
Don

I'm not sure how high-end you're looking for, but we've been riding these bikes for a while and there isn't much I'd ask to have improved on them: http://www.lafuga.cc/story/bike-rental

Plenty are already rented out for the Etapes, but we've got a pretty deep fleet, so give us a shout and we might still be able to hook you up. We also offer Garmin rentals (brand new 800s), which might be helpful if you're looking to do some riding before or after the event.

Sorry if this is getting a bit too advert, but we offer our bikes to anyone for rental, not just those taking part in one of our trips. I know that at least a few other companies are willing to do the same (we hooked a client up with one of these bikes last year and they were good to deal with - http://www.pyractif.com/bike-hire/road.html)

For higher-end, we do offer the option to upgrade to one of the director's bikes, which is a full-DA set-up and Ksyrium SL wheels... I tried to tell them... or I should have a hand-built premium option available by July as well.

It's still 'just' the 10R frame, but it's tough to notice any drop in performance and my frame only weighed 1075g in a size 58cm and that's a lot of red paint!!

Way too late for the topic starter but for future purposes: every year it is possible to rent road bikes at l' Etape du Tour in the village of departure with the guys of https://www.wiel-rent.nl/en/rent/road-b ... g-bicycle/ Both aluminium and carbon road bikes.
