Quite by accident about three years ago I found out that i prefer gloves with ZERO padding. Well those now are vile beyond recovery and have several holes in them to boot. Unfortunately no bike shop within about 50 miles carries unpadded gloves because "Nobody would buy them."

So I know that the must be out there, but where?

I also like little or no padding. Sometimes I use golf gloves, sold separately left and right handed. Leather and cheap. Got mine at Target for $30 pair
Driving gloves work but expensive

I bought some Garneau gloves on sale at the LBS a few years ago. Like you, I prefer no padding. They are simple. The only luxury is some silicone screen printed on the palm.

I'm like you. I only want a layer of leather between me and the bars. Pearl Izumi makes the "Pittard Pro Glove". There are two versions - a "gel" version with padding :? and one without :D . The palms are simply a layer of leather embossed with the Pearl Izumi logo.

I was in the PI without the padding. I wonder if it is still the same. Either that or I;ll dig out some sailing gloves from the basement.

Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Aero for non-padded gloves.

Minimalist padded: Assos 6-day gloves.

+1

I use the version without padding and it is by far the best mitts I have ever used. Just got them a month ago, so well see how long they last.

In all seriousness, why no padding? Just a better grip on the bar? Better feel on the bar? What is it?

You're wearing gloves with no padding to protect your hands in the event of a crash, right? Versus not wearing any gloves.

In the past, my palms would be sore from riding without gloves. For some reason, I did a mid-sized ride a week ago without gloves and I ended up being just fine. I wonder if it's like your posterior ... it needs to be developed into proper cycling shape over many years?

No padding because the pads always seem to put odd pressure points on my hands causing numbness and pain. I like wearing gloves though because as it warms up my hands tend to sweat a lot and it keeps them from slipping on the hoods which is my preferred riding position.

My wife wears the Pearl Izumi Pittards Pro Glove.

I wear the PRO Aero (tt) gloves. I must have 15 pairs sitting around. I don't train in gloves, but always wear them racing.

You can wear it as an underglove too.

I also like these on cool days...cheap & easy to pop in pocket but most of all
has the special thread on thumb & first to finger tips so you can use a touch screen phone etc.
