Whoa! Checking that hard is begging for a crash! Agreed, there should be disqualifications handed out for that.

If I was in her shoes, there would have been some elbows thrown. Or bottles jammed in spokes.

She was clear a few times and let off the gas. If she takes one down with her they'll lose more than a podium spot if they DNF.

She needs to visit the Mark Cavendish school of head butting!

Mara is a bit fragile mentally, she's gifted and brilliant, from the interviews I've read and heard she's not going to pull a Hinault on them. Made me sad to see her done like that but the real shitty thing is that UHC had no help for her! She's the defending champion and you couldn't maybe sign one rider who had some decent climbing chops? Weak. I like women's racing but when shit like this goes down it just screams amateur hour....:?

YouTube, Giro Rosa stage 9. Start at minute 35 and just watch the circus start soon after. Vos definitely took a hit on my admiration meter there. She just sat there watching. Not a good look for her...

Boxing a rider in like that is ridiculous, wouldn't be tolerated in a local club race let alone a top level pro race!

The fact that it occurred in a women's race speaks volumes for both the level of racing and the view of the UCI.

Sorry, but I just don't find it interesting to watch. The athleticism is remarkable, and I greatly admire some of the leading riders and their mental and physical strength, but the road racing is insipid even at the highest level.

Well. I wouldn't have believed that if I didn't see it. Sure doesn't help 'the cause' does it?

But I think that 'boxing' and blocking are actually legal, even though they may seem icky.
The line between legal and illegal would be just if the blocker makes a sharp turn that would be considered dangerous (which they also did in the video).
I not certain of how the regulations are actually worded, so I may be wrong.
But one thing is certain: if you get yourself into a break with three other riders of the same team you are going to have to really by cagey and explosive to get away. I am surprised that the three were not more interested in chasing down the leader first, though. The leader was a different team, right ?

She could try harder to escape that "boxing" or she really isn't confident in her skills on a bike

Not trying to be cocky but she barely tried to get out of here

Agreed. Maybe she was resigned to the fact she was in a pickle because she sure doesn't react the way I'd expect. Regardless, it's tough to watch. Every time the one rider looks back over her shoulder I want to scream. I would've expected more from Vos.
