Farrar caused the crash. Then need to wrap that guy in bubble-wrap... and send him home.

...this coming from an American living in Farrar's home state. That crash today was ridiculous...

...then again, maybe Garmin needs to look at tire alternatives

No kidding......that guy is a rolling hazard. Others in the peloton must be getting sick of his propensity to cause mayhem.....

yeah, hard to believe we haven't found any sprinters better than Farrar in the recent years. you'd think with all the crit bangers in the US, at least a couple would be up to par with him and able to compete on the worldtour level. maybe unitedhealthcare will produce someone

Farrar will be out of contract next year unless he does something big. He's going to need to turn his season around and get up to the level of sprinting with the big boys.

Wireless for road is swanky but that's going to make time trial bikes an absolute dream to build.

Ha, now they need to make bike with the ability for cabled, electronic cables + no cables at all. Blank plugs aren't exactly hard to make though.

The US has almost never had good international level sprinters. People may not remember this, but Farrar was one of the best sprinters in the world as a junior and in 2009 beat Cav in some sprints. He is a trainwreck now though!

The problem is that criteriums in the US are absolutely nothing like international level races. 90min max, the pack dynamic is completely different, and the talent is generally more disparate with a few guys being great and everyone else being so-so without the talent or resources to compete. On the other hand, sprinters in Europe at least develop on the lower level domestic scenes or racing kermesses, which are a hell of a lot longer than any US crit. Most kermesses are longer than Cat 1/2 road races in the US even.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.

Did Farrar suffer like a crisis of confidence, or an anxiety attack or something post 2010?
It's only really been the past few years where the only way he's owned the bunch sprint has been by taking them all down, but prior to this he was more than adequate.
It's almost like he's outta his depth in a group, which seems like classic self doubt etc akin to putting a junior in a group of big boys - he seems to panic and be unsure of what to do.

People keep citing the Wouter Weylandt thing. Don't buy it myself.

Farrar is quite good but he has to compete against more good sprinters than before.
In 2009 he has just to take the wheel of Cavendish and try to beat him, yesterday in the Giro he had at least 5 sprinters as good or better than him.
And Kittel has left and the others (Cavendish, Greipel, ... ) are not riding the Giro.

And his positionning is not good enough , if you look at Bouhanni he is always in second or third wheel when he start his sprint so he makes a top 5 anyway.
