Does the rider pay out of their own pocket? Or negotiated when a top rider signs a contract with a team?

The funny thing is that Sagan uses a -6 120 with a 15mm top cap. He could run a stock size 56 frame with a 130 slammed or with a 5mm spacer and get the exact same stack and reach.

He likes to sit on the top tube a lot. Custom geo lets him sit lower on the tube. Maybe, or maybe not. ;)
But I'm pretty sure he knows why he wants a custom one.

regarding the stage Kristoff won... Where the hell Bonnen came... We would have needed another 50 meters maybe?
But I'd love to see that 2180 Watt from Kristoff's SRM. That's a huge number.

kristoff was dying near the end, he rode in the wind from like 400m out then was like nope nope nope, but yea. Sick. howard said the same thing about 'line being 10 more meters', but heck that's racing right, as long as you are first to cross....

the pro thing to do is request custom paint or geo. if i was a pro i'd want custom errthang to make it rain on the internets.

I don't think Sagan knows anything about cycling equipment other than where to put your ass, feet, and hands.

I doubt 2180 is real and, if it is, its only 1s. SRMs can over sample 1s fairly easily if you shift and increase velocity at the same time. I used to be able to get 1700 or 1800w spikes like that in my small ring, then realized I am still weak.

he must know enough about his machine to request custom geometry lol

Maybe if that was my srm that i posted on instagram. But why u doubting homeboy kirstoff, dude just won a UCI race! 1sec ....5sec.....whatever.... at 78kg, whatever that 5sec is, clearly is world tour level on that chart we all know. I just some naive peasant, but i def think 1s peak power by greipel, kittel, kristoff is 2000+.

Kristoff has some fairly impressive weight lifting numbers as well.

2100 is about or more than Chris Hoy. Sorry, I doubt it for a road sprinter. Maybe peaks of 1700-1800.

Sagan can request whatever he wants and probably get it, but if I were Cannondale I'd just take the label off a 56, which would fit just fine.

It wouldn't handle the same. Oh, and Cannondale had already had the 54x58 mould made for Daniele Bennati, so it's not like they had to go out of their way to provide custom geo for Sagan (source).

Question: Why don't Garmin-Sharp pair the aero chainrings with Rotor Flow crank arms?
