Reynolds Assault clinchers
1492g verified vs 1515g stated by mfg

Making plans to swap-out my Reynolds Attacks (25mm wide x 29mm deep) for the slightly deeper Assaults (25mm wide x 41mm deep). Am keeping my PowerTap GS hub.

Reynolds, Schwalbe and Challenge latex continue to work great for me. Two thumbs-up!

I would be cautious on using these wheels on steep and technical descends. I have a friend who is an excellent rider and descender. On a very hot day he destroyed his Reynolds on a steep descent. Here in Colorado the air is thinner and it does put extra stress on braking. He contacted Reynolds and they refused to warranty the wheels. Just beware.

I guess unless you run disc, there’s always a risk to roast the carbon rim brakes.

I have Reynolds Aero 46/72 and been on some steep descent. The brakes held up well with the new power blue pads and no squeal. On the same descent with my c24, it’ll start to squeal like a pig getting slaughtered.

Appreciate the concern. I’m good to go.
Have happily ridden this set-up for ~10yrs.
I believe in latex and not dragging the brakes.

In other “on topic” news, I also just bought a new set of G4 EE standard mount brakes (pics to follow). Not sure if I’ll use Reynold’s new fancy blue power pads or their regular old pads. I’ve used both through the years and find the power pads a wee bit stronger, but also noisier.

Cane Creek G4 EE regular mount brake set - 178g/set (verified) vs 169g (mfg)
By comparison, my Gen 1.5? EE brakes from early 2013 weighed 173g/set (verified)
