If you like mountain biking, visit The Path bike store in Tustin. The website does the shop no justice.

there are a million bike shops in Los Angeles...

Velo Pasadena has lots of eye candy. Incycle down the street is pretty cool as well. Both are really big shops, too. Universal Cycles on Cahuenga isn't too big, but top-rate service and good guys all around.

For more of a walk on the wild side try Open Road Bikes which is in between Velo Pasadena & Incycle on Sierra Madre. What part of LA???? Helens has a few shops around the area. Cynergy has a really nice shop in Santa Monica down the Road from Helens & don't forget to visit all of the Performance bike shops  . If your out in Ventura county Nonstop Ciclismo & Agoura Cycles & in Burbank is Bicycle Johns. Those are most of the shops I would stop by in my rounds but there are so many more that I don't know about.
