Nice pics jekyll man. Love the fact that you've obviously got a pair of lucky TT socks...

Another criterium this weekend... Good turnout but the sun probably helped:

Image

On a 3km closed circuit, somehow a group of horses got caught up in the peloton. How no one came off (bike or horse) i don't know. One neutralised race later, we started again.

Image

I let a few breaks go but nothing really worked until a couple of strong guys went off the front. i marked them and found myself off the front with 75km to go. again.

Image

As the race went on, the little hill on each lap took its toll until only three were left 10km from the end

Image

Knowing that i just don't sprint, i put in a few attacks and finally got away two-and-a-half laps from the end...

Image

...for another solo win :D
Image

Did something very similar on the same course last year but that was in third category. now i'm racing first cat. It's nice to see a winter of training paying off.

JamieL your based in England yeah? Do you often nip over for races in what I assume is france?

Also how do you find the planet x?

Well done on the win also.

Nope, i'm English but live in France and sometimes nip back home for races in the UK.

Regarding the Planet X, i find that it is perfectly suitable for my needs. it is light, reasonably stiff and hasnt broken, cracked, snapped or done anything funny. If i had more cash i'd probably get something different but in terms of value for money i think it'll be hard to do better - i prefer to spend more on the components at the moment. It has built up into a 6.0kg bike with a powermeter on so no real complaints

Great shot. I like the Salomon cap and the facial expression of the guy on it's wheel.
Congratulations!

It took a lot of eye wash to get the mud out of my eyes post race! I think it looks a bit Belgian except it was only 27 miles in all!

More California Cat 4 road race action:

Image

The field sprint. Was one guy a head of us and two more up the road from a break. I ended up 5th out of ~62.

Considering it was a flat and moderately windy road race, good results for me. Had previously thought I needed hills to do well.
