Is this marketed at dentists & lawyers or kids I wonder?
Is anyone completely done with these absurd prices?

I live in Japan. You know what. Supply chain problems due to COVID-19, manufacturers trying to sell you higher, usd-to-jpy rate exploding, and etc. Any negative factors you can think of happened at the same time period. S-Works Tarmac is now twice compared to 2020.
Its cost to Fox may be as high as high as $100-120. But retail is less than a fifth of big brand flagship aero bikes, most of which cost $200-300 to make. Both are obscene, but still, putting it in perspective it's not as bad as some other stuff in the bike industry.
But the price differential between the US and Europe is some kind of sick joke.

Makes me scratch my head when a bicycle costs more than my BMW F800GS.
Does your GS come in 7 different frame sizes? That need dozens more of molds? Do these framesets neeed to be developed to work with of the shelf components, from even more non related companies?Juanmoretime wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 12:34 pmMakes me scratch my head when a bicycle costs more than my BMW F800GS.
Prices are high, yes. But don't compare a of the shelf GS with something that should be compared with a professional racebike. At least compare it with a midrange endurance bike with 105 Di2. But even then, it's a long stretch.

Not going to get into it online since motorcycle designers do need to make their designs work with components of other manufacturers. I/E. Brembo brakes are not made by BMW but their design needs to work with those brakes. While not frame sizes they do have saddles of various heights to accomodate the height of the rider plus many other things to adjust the ergonomcs of ther rider.
I ride for my own personal pleasure, health and fitness, bicycles and motorcycles, and don't care what the pro's do and don't follow profressional cycling at all.
I guess I did get into it a littler bit. :smartass:

The bust cycle just claimed The Pro’s Closet. It hasn’t been officially announced, but they haven’t been paying their employees, they aren’t accepting used bikes, and all products are listed as non-returnable.

Their prices have been crazy low the last week or so and they are down to an inventory of just 200 bikes?! It was 400-500 just a few weeks ago. Looks like they must indeed be going down. Should be calling it the "End of the Road" sale ... not the "End of Season" sale. Sad.
