Everything else looks like shit, it’s either a gopro or an insta360

The new DJI Action 2 has better stabilization and some unique features, but the image quality isn’t quite as good.

Oh yeah and maybe dji, but even a hero 4 is still a way better camera than any other cheap action camera and can be had for around the same price

I'm in agreement with this. The market choice is not huge in this space. GoPro more or less has the top end of the market sown up as it has the best choice of frame rates and quality levels. From about H7 Black onwards the stabilisation is excellent. Otherwise for conventional action cams, ie not 360, there's a raft of GoPro copies but I'm not aware of any that particularly stand out.

One recent alternative you could look at is Insta360 Go2. It's a 180 cam, not a 360 cam (360 cams are finicky to use), it's tiny and light and is virtually a wearable. Battery life is very short but for shareable action clips it's easy to use, produces nice bright footage and is much nearer the OP's price level.

If you want a camera to record traffic infractions, as cyclists in UK increasingly want to do, that's a whole other market segment.

Used GoPro over a cheap action camera all day long. I have a Hero 7 Black and I've never felt the need to upgrade from it. You should be able to pick one up for $150-200 USD used. Slightly more than you want to spend (I think) but as said before, the stabilization took a huge step up with the 7 onwards.
