Sure there were a lots of riders in the pro peloton who looked for marginal gains in all the wrong places, but LA was the one profiting the most and who filed legal actions against anyone and everyone who decided to raise there hand and ask questions! Worse was the fact that most of those he sued could ill aford to front adequte legal defenses when they ended up in his legal cross hairs and that is something for which he should never get a pass on.

Nothing happened GC wise then. I think he just means 2014 was an example of a GC rider taking tons of time on a non-mountain day. Though it's a bit of a special case with a lot of factors coming together at once, IMO. One of them being that Nibali was relishing the cobbles while Evenepoel hates any poor surfaces. It's doubtful he'll be looking at any forthcoming cobbled or gravel stages as an opportunity no matter how good the rest of Quickstep is at it.

You're both wrong. There was no crosswind split and no GC action at all that day. There was no stage that year that Froome took time in crosswinds.

There was a day that Contador took back a minute on everyone else including Froome on a crosswind stage win by Cav for Quickstep, but ultimately he finished off the podium.

Glad to see Jan Ullrich looking happy, he has had some tough years. My favourite cyclist of the 1990s who I watched on TV as a young teenager.

Many abandoned Ullrich. Like him or loathe him, Armstrong was one of the few that stood by him and took an interest.
